Arsene Wenger is hopeful Alexandre Lacazette can replicate Zlatan Ibrahimovic and show off his goalscoring prowess in the Premier League.
Swedish striker Ibrahimovic spent last season at Manchester United after moving from Paris Saint-Germain and impressed, scoring 17 league goals for the Old Trafford side.
And Lacazette has made a similar move, crossing the channel to join Arsenal in a £54million move from Lyon, switching Ligue 1 for the Premier League.
Arsene Wenger hopes Alexandre Lacazette can continue scoring goals in the Premier League
He cited the example of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who impressed for Manchester United
The France international bagged 37 goals across all competitions for his former side in the 2016-17 campaign and Wenger believes he should be aiming for a similar haul for the Gunners.
'With Lacazette it is simple,' Wenger said. 'He is an intelligent player who can integrate our game well as we have a game backed on mobility, technique.
'After that we get the efficiency. His record in France is to score one in 80 minutes. If he can maintain that record that would be ideal for us. As a game is in 90 that would guarantee you a goal.
Wenger said Lacazette was an intelligent player who had excellent mobility and technique
'Goalscoring record is not necessarily transferable from the French League to the English league, that's for sure.
'But you could say that Ibrahimovic transferred an identical amount of goals from France to England. So that's the target Lacazette should set.'
Arsenal will be looking to improve on last season, when they finished fifth in the Premier League and missed out on a Champions League place.
They start their campaign against Leicester City on Friday night.
He called on Lacazette to target the same figures this season while with Arsenal
