Jose Mourinho returned to the five-star Lowry Hotel on Saturday ahead of Manchester United's curtain raiser against West Ham.

The Portuguese tactician was pictured returning to the hotel, his Manchester base, after United's training session on Saturday at the Aon training complex in Carrington.

The Manchester boss has resided in the hotel ever since his arrival last summer and it would seem he has grown rather fond of the place as he has pencilled himself in for the whole of the upcoming season as well.

New signing Victor Lindelof was also pictured returning to the hotel after training on Saturday, who has also lived in the luxury hotel since his Ā£30million arrival from Benfica earlier in the summer.Ā

Mourinho, appeared typically stone-faced and wore his usual Adidas Spezial tracksuit as he walked in the entrance of the Manchester hotel.

A mob of fans greeted the manager on his return and one lucky supporter even managed to grab himself an autograph from the self-proclaimed 'Special One' before he headed in to strategise a special plan for Sunday's clash at Old Trafford.

Mourinho will have plenty of work to do as well, as West Ham are no walk-in-the-park, Slaven Bilic's side have made a couple of shrewd signings with the arrivals of former Red Devils striker Javier Hernandez, as well as Marko Arnautovic, Pablo Zabaleta and Joe Hart.

He will certainly be hopeful of a different narrative compared to their last outing, when he watched his team easily brushed aside by Real Madrid last Tuesday in the UEFA Super Cup.

There was one positive to take away from the defeat however, with new Ā£75million signing Romelu Lukaku redeeming himself after missing a howler to grab his first competitive goal for the club.Ā

But Mourinho, who is an experienced winner, does not want to rely on the goals of one man, which was what he found himself doing last season with Zlatan Ibrahimovic.Ā

Instead, he will surely be plotting a way from his hotel room to make sure his other players can contribute to their goal tally this season, starting on Sunday against West Ham.Ā

'In my other clubs what I had was more players scoring goals,' he said. 'Midfield players scoring goals, wingers scoring goals, central defenders good in the air scoring goals at set-pieces.Ā

'We always had that so my teams always had the goalscorer, we always had the guy that scores more goals, but then we had the winger that scored 15 goals, we had the midfield player who scored 10 goals, we had the central defender that scored five goals.

'Last season that didn't happen much - we were focused on the goals that our striker was scoring and when he was not scoring, the team was a little bit in trouble to win matches.'Ā

He knows if his new-looked team are to put up a genuine title tilt this season, then they will need to have several different routes to goals and not just rely on the new boy Lukaku.Ā
