The 23-year-old would join Tiemoue Bakayoko, Bernando Silva and Benjamin Mendy in leaving the French champions if he is to join a new club this summer.

It remains to be seen whether Jose Mourinho will pursue a move for Fabinho given United's impressive start to the season and already hefty outlay on the likes of £70million Romelu Lukaku and £40m Nemanja Matic.

And Leonardo Jardim's side are desperate not to lose another of their big name players.

Only last month the club's vice president Vadim Vasilyev maintained they would not sell Thomas Lemar or Fabinho in this transfer window.

He said: 'We have kept all of the key players that we intended to keep.

'Fabinho is a must-have player in midfield who was being courted by all the major clubs. I will also address speculation about Lemar: he is staying with us. We have discussed this.'

'We must not await further departures, rather arrivals,' he concluded.
