Arsene Wenger confirmed it and also insisted he will develop into a key player for England
But despite the prospect of losing Oxlade-Chamberlain for free, Wenger insists the former Southampton man is going nowhere.
And Wenger believes the versatile midfielder will become a stand-out performer for the England national team.
'Yes, he is staying here. Why? Personally, because I rate him highly and he's one of the players who is on his way up,' said Wenger.
'In the last year, he has made huge progress and personally I want him to stay here for a long time.
'I'm convinced he will be the English player that everybody will look at in the next two years at the end of the season.'
The 23-year-old only has 12 months left on his contract but Wenger wants him to stay longer
