Swansea launch an ambitious move in an effort to lure Bayern Munich midfielder Renato Sanches

  • Swansea have entered the race to sign Bayern Munich flop Renato Sanches
  • Several clubs across Europe are interested in signing the Portuguese midfielder
  • Munich are prepared to let him leave this summer but only on an initial loan deal
  • Swans boss Paul Clement wants to sign him to help fill Gylfi Sigurdsson's void

Swansea have made an ambitious move to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Renato Sanches on loan.

However, the 20-year-old has several other clubs interested in him including big hitters Paris St Germain, Monaco, Chelsea and AC Milan.

Sanches is aware of the speculation and requested to be left out of Bayern Munich's squad for their trip to Werder Bremen at the weekend so he could sort his future out.

Once dubbed as the next superstar, the Portugal international hasn't quite lived up to the expectation since his big-money move to Bavaria from Benfica last summer.

However, the German champions are reluctant to allow him to depart the club on a permanent basis and are only willing to let him leave this summer on an initial loan.

With a host of clubs lining up to secure his signature, Sanches' next destination is still up in the air.

But it is clear is that it may not be in Munich. Bayern boss Carlo Ancelotti admitted after their 2-0 win against Bremen on Saturday he isn't that concerned about what happens to the player he splashed £27.5million on only a year ago.

He said: 'If he stays, I'm satisfied. If he goes, it's okay no problem.'

And now Paul Clement's side have entered the race in an audacious attempt to land the midfielder.

Swansea are still looking to fill a void, which Gylfi Sigurdsson left when he moved to Everton in a club-record £45m switch earlier in the summer.

Clement has already invested £16.5m of the Sigurdsson fund on midfielder Sam Clucas, who joined from Championship outfit Hull and made his debut in their 2-0 win at Selhurst Park on Saturday.

But the Swans' boss is still eager to add depth to his squad and is ready to fight off interest in order to bring Sanches to the Liberty Stadium.
