Divock Origi urged to leave Liverpool as striker's father reveals: 'Tottenham is a possibility'

Divock Origi must leave Liverpool if he is to get more playing time and Tottenham could be his next destination, the forward's father has revealed.

The Belgium international has fallen further down Jurgen Klopp's pecking order following Daniel Sturridge's return to full fitness and the arrival of Dominic Solanke from Chelsea.

Reds boss Klopp is mulling over using Origi as part of a deal to bring in Monaco winger Thomas Lemar, which would see the striker go to the French principality on a season-long loan.

There has also been talk of a loan move to Anderlecht.

But Divock's father, Mike, has revealed that a switch to Mauricio Pochettino's side could still happen before the end of Thursday's transfer window.

'We’ve not been contacted by Anderlecht,' Mike told DH.be. 'Divock has to leave Liverpool to get more playing time.

'Tottenham is a possibility, but there is also interest from France and Germany.'

Origi has just nine minutes of Premier League football under his belt this season, coming on as a substitute in the opening-day draw against Watford.

Klopp has a wealth of options at his disposal and could deploy any of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah, Solanke, Sturridge and, barring a late swoop by Barcelona, Philippe Coutinho in any of the front three positions.

The Reds also have the returning Danny Ings to come into the fray as well as youth product Ben Woodburn — who burst onto the scene last season with his goal against Leeds in the EFL Cup, becoming the club's youngest-ever scorer in the process.

And whereas Liverpool are well stocked in the forward department, Spurs see themselves lacking in comparison.

The Belgian would add to Pochettino's attacking resources, which is currently heavily reliant on Harry Kane with the underwhelming Vincent Janssen providing the back-up as the only other out-and-out striker.
