Bojan leaves Stoke as he returns to Spain with Deportivo Alaves on loan

  • Bojan joined Stoke from Barcelona in 2014 but struggled to make an impact
  • After a disappointing spell the Spaniard was then loaned to German side Mainz
  • Bojan scored just 15 goals in 65 appearances for the Potters in all competitions
  • The Spaniard has returned to La Liga joining Deportivo Alaves for a season loan

Bojan has left for Spain after joining Deportivo Alaves on loan from Mark Hughes' Stoke.

The former Barcelona forward joined the Potters from the Catalans in 2014 and was then seen as one of the signings of the summer.

Sportsmail has recently reported that Alaves were interested in bringing the Spaniard back to La Liga, but would have to fight off Las Palmas and Malaga for his signature.

As a former apprentice to Barcelona’s prized gem Lionel Messi, the 27-year-old was eagerly awaited in the Premier League to see what all the fuss was about.

Since then, the Spaniard struggled to setting the league alight, showing glimpses of his potential but never really solidifying his impact in England.

Bojan, who scored 15 goals in 65 appearances under Mark Hughes, was loaned out to German side Mainz last season but again, struggled to make an impact scoring just once in his 11 appearances.

As Stoke's 10th departure this summer, Bojan has followed on from the likes of Marko Arnautovic, who joined West Ham for £24million, and Joselu, who fled Mark Hughes' side for Premier League new boys Newcastle.

Following his move, the former Barcelona man said: 'I am very happy and grateful to (Deportivo) Alaves for my return to La Liga.'
