Chelsea defender David Luiz has joined Thibaut Courtois in poking fun at Diego Costa, after making reference to the wantaway striker during an Instagram post marking the return of Didier Drogba.

Chelsea legend Drogba has been enjoying himself around the club's Cobham training ground this week, with the Phoenix Rising striker building up his fitness following a slight injury.

Drogba posted: 'Feels good to be back @chelseafc and see some familiar faces, doing some great work here with the medical and hopefully I'll be back soon to you @phxrisingfc PS. good luck tonight boys.'

But having been pictured earlier this week with Costa's replacement Alvaro Morata, Luiz has joined Courtois in mocking the Spaniard with a phrase made famous during Neymar's move to Paris Saint-Germain.

The Brazilian reposted Drogba's photo including the same phrase used by Courtois in a picture of him and Costa earlier on Saturday, attracting over 160,000 likes within two hours.

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique heightened belief among fans that Neymar would remain at the Nou Camp this summer when he posted in Spanish, 'Se Queda' (meaning 'he stays') with a picture of him and the player.

Having joined PSG for a world-record fee this summer, the phrase has become known among football fans and players alike, and is now seemingly used ironically to make light of transfer sagas.

Courtois was the first to copy Pique in reference to Costa, after the player remained a Chelsea player beyond the Spanish summer transfer window deadline on Friday night.

The unsettled striker made it known during Sportsmail's exclusive interview last month that he wishes to re-join Atletico Madrid, but they are under a transfer embargo until January meaning Costa would be unable to play for Diego Simeone's team until the turn of the year.

The uncertainty has not stopped Chelsea from taking the shock decision of including castaway striker Costa in their 25-man Premier League squad.

Costa is currently holed up in his hometown of Lagarto in Brazil and refusing to return to Chelsea after a major fallout with manager Antonio Conte at the start of the summer.
