Jonny Evans insists he is 'excited' at prospect of West Brom return despite failed transfer to Manchester City

Jonny Evans is ready to commit his immediate future to West Bromwich Albion after stating he cannot wait to return to action for the Baggies in the Premier League.

The centre-back has not played for Tony Pulis' outfit this term due to hamstring complaints and a summer speculation over his future where he was chased by Manchester City and subject of a failed £23million bid from Leicester City. 

But the centre-back featured twice for Northern Ireland during the international break, including scoring against Czech Republic on Monday, and is ready to return to West Brom action, who have started the season unbeaten.

Evans has yet to feature for West Brom this term following speculation over his future

'I am looking forward to getting back and getting involved,' Evans told talkSPORT.

'It has been a great start for us - seven points from nine - and we have been outstanding in both the home games I have been at.

The 29-year-old is buoyed by the summer transfer business done by the Midlands outfit, and claims new signings such as Gareth Barry, Grzegorz Krychowiak‏, Jay Rodriguez and Oliver Burke will help provide competition for places

Evans claims Krychowiak is outstanding after playing against the midfielder at Euro 2016

'We finished tenth last year and the season sort of fizzled out. We were in a great position and it maybe ended a bit disappointing for us,' Evans added.

'The boy Krychowiak we played against in our first game at the Euros and he was outstanding. He was the best player on the pitch.

'What the manager has done is add great competition to the squad and it means everyone will have to raise their game to get into the team.'
