Everton are lining up a January move for Porto captain Ivan Marcano. The 30-year-old is out of contract next summer and is free to talk to foreign clubs from January.
Sportsmail reported how Everton scouting staff checked on the experienced centre-back last month and made enquiries to Porto, who were only willing to sell at an inflated price.
Marcano, who hails from Spain, can play at left-back as well as centre-back and Ronald Koeman wants him to provide cover for his defence.

Everton were extremely active in the summer transfer window bringing in a total of nine senior players.
The Toffees splashed out £45m to sign Gylfi Sigurdsson from Swansea while Michael Keane and Wayne Rooney joined from Burnley and Manchester United respectively.
