Arsene Wenger insists he has no doubts about Alexis Sanchez’s mind being elsewhere when back with Arsenal.
The forward is due to return to Gunners’ training ground on Thursday for the first time since his failed £60million move to Manchester City.
It comes after Sanchez appeared to make clear his disappointment at being denied his transfer and Chile’s World Cup qualification woes on social media.
Alexis Sanchez saw a potential deadline-day move to Manchester City fall through
‘I have no doubt about Alexis’ mind and mentality,’ Wenger said. ‘He needs to come back to full fitness, which he wasn’t at Liverpool (in the 4-0 loss).
‘He suffered a negative experience. He’s strong mentally, and will hopefully back to his best soon.
'The transfer market is over. There was a lot going on on that front.’
Arsene Wenger has discussed Sanchez at his weekly Arsenal press conference
On whether him leaving depended on Arsenal signing Thomas Lemar, Wenger said: ‘That is what I read everywhere. My view is that it is very difficult to speak about.
‘Lemar is now with Monaco and has to focus on Monaco. Sanchez is here and focused on here. You have to keep a certain confidentiality about transfer negotiations.
‘He decided to stay in Monaco and we have to respect that. He has three years on his contract to go. So overall, we have to respect that.’
