Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard will take charge of the Under-19 side in the UEFA Youth League this season.
Gerrard, a Champions League winner with the Reds in 2005, has just begun his first campaign as Under-18 manager at the academy and has now also been asked to lead an older age group in Europe.
Sportsmail originally reported in April this year, that the Liverpool legend would take up the U18 coaching position, having previously returned to Melwood from LA Galaxy in January to take up a more ambassadorial position.

The former captain took over the U18 side in April but will now absorb both responsibilities
Despite the differing in age group, Gerrard, who made over 700 appearances for Liverpool in a career that spanned over 17 seasons, will already be coaching the majority of the U19 squad on a day-to-day basis.
In a club statement released today, Liverpool reported: 'Steven Gerrard will manage the Liverpool U19 (squad) when they embark on their UEFA Youth League campaign next week.'
The U19 fixtures mirror those of the first team and so the youth side will kick off at home to Sevilla on Wednesday before tackling matches against Maribor and Spartak Moscow before Christmas.
And the 37-year-old will look to replicate his success' as a Champions League winner in 2005
