Wayne Rooney has reported for Everton training on the day his boss Ronald Koeman faces the press for the first time since the player's arrest for drink driving.

Rooney was charged in the early hours of Friday morning and will appear before magistrates on September 19 to answer it.

The striker has already had face-to-face talks with his manager, but it is understood he will not face any action from his club until after his court appearance.

Everton boss Ronald Koeman will speak for the first time since Rooney's drink drive charge

Sportsmail understands Rooney was three times over the legal limit, driving a car belonging to a 29-year-old office worker, Laura Simpson.

Rooney turned up for training at Finch Farm clean shaven on Thursday, doing away with the rough look he sported on his arrival at training on Wednesday.

The 31-year-old is looking to make amends with those at Goodison Park and is keen to continue his promising start to the season.

It is thought the club will refrain from taking disciplinary action against their summer signing

The striker has already held face to face talks with Koeman after the incident last Friday

The former Manchester United man has scored twice since return from Old Trafford, and has also set up another as Everton started their campaign with a win, draw and a loss.

The Toffees return to premier League action this weekend when they welcome Tottenham to Goodison Park and both Rooney and Koeman will be desperate for talk to return to on-field activity.

The striker had been warned that there would be 'no exceptions ' for himself under Koeman's disciplined attitude towards players under his stewardship, and his place in the squad to face Maurico Pochettino's men could be under threat.
