I understand why many Leicester fans will boo Chelsea's Danny Drinkwater and N'Golo Kante this weekend, but I respect what they did for our club

  • Danny Drinkwater and N'Golo Kante have both left Leicester for Chelsea
  • Pair will return to King Power Stadium, but reception may be less than friendly
  • Fans are angry that Drinkwater said he was injured but will play for Chelsea
  • Despite some boos, many are grateful to the pair for helping them win the league

This weekend could see the return of Leicester's title-winning midfield duo of Danny Drinkwater and N'Golo Kante at the King Power Stadium... only this time, they'll be playing in Chelsea shirts.

It feels really painful just typing those words and it will be a tough one to see. Personally I was really sad to see Drinkwater leave at the last minute on transfer deadline day but it had been coming and I don't think many fans were too surprised.

What I am surprised about is that teams didn't come in for him last season after such an amazing campaign the year before. I think he's underrated as a player and maybe playing for a 'big club' will get him the chances he deserves and more call ups to the England team.

The way the transfer happened in the end has left a bit of a sour taste in some of the fans' mouths though – amazingly he has overcome his 'injury' and is now available for selection this weekend!

That thigh strain that kept him out of the first three games was certainly suspect. It's understandable that the club went along with it, given any injury could have scuppered a sale.

I'm glad Leicester held out and got a good price of £35million for him though, as it would've been even harder to take if they had let him go on the cheap. I can understand that he wants to push himself more, challenging for titles and playing in the Champions League again... we may not see that at Leicester for a while.

Hopefully, if the £22m Adrien Silva transfer goes through, then we could have a more than a capable replacement (14 seconds?! Come on FIFA...). We also have the experienced Vincente Iborra and the return of Matty James is a massive boost.

They made my dreams come true by winning the Premier League

We must remember that he was keeping Drinkwater out of the team before he got injured. I just hope our new midfielders can pick out the Vardy runs like Drinky could in the title-winning season.

I'm sure some of the boo boys will be out in force on Saturday, giving Drinkwater and Kante a rough time. I can understand this and everyone has a right to vent their frustrations but I won't be joining them as I respect what they did for our club.

They made my dreams come true by winning the Premier League and making the last eight of the Champions League – I will be forever grateful for the big part they both played in that.

It should make for a cracking atmosphere though, and that extra edge will make sure that a few tasty tackles go flying in.

Jamie Vardy has already drawn the battle lines by saying that once the whistle blows they are 'enemies' to him, and I'm sure that will go for the rest of the team too.

Hopefully it will be an entertaining game and let's hope we can show Drinkwater what he's missing by taking all three points.
