Manchester City 5-0 Liverpool: Six things you missed as James Milner is booed, Sergio Aguero claims two records, Martin Tyler reads ref's soul and Kolo Toure commits fashion crime

Liverpool's unbeaten start to the season ended in explosive fashion on Saturday as Jurgen Klopp's men went down 5-0 at rivals Manchester City.

Gabriel Jesus and Leroy Sane each scored twice, after Sergio Aguero broke the deadlock and Sadio Mane was sent off for a dangerous challenge on Ederson.

But amid the flood of goals and a very divisive red card there were plenty of other goings on that you might have missed. Sportsmail's ROBERT SUMMERSCALES has rounded up six of them below.

Record-breaking Aguero

By scoring the opener, Aguero became the most prolific non-European goal-getter in Premier League history.

The Argentine now has 124 top-flight strikes to his name - one more than Dwight Yorke.

Didier Drogba (104), Emmanuel Adebayor (97) and Yakubu (95) complete the top five.

Aguero also equalled a Premier League record by scoring in six consecutive games against one club.

His haunting of Liverpool matched what Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink did to Everton, Aston Villa and West Ham respectively.

Tyler reads ref's 'soul'

Mane's first-half sending off was unquestionably the game's biggest talking point.

But while Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher disagreed over whether referee Jon Moss had made the correct call, Sky Sports commentator Martin Tyler came up with the most profound analysis.

'In his soul, he wouldn't have wanted to do that,' explained Tyler, after pointing out that Moss had played non-League football before he became a ref.

City fans boo Milner

James Milner returned to the Etihad Stadium for the third time since his free transfer move to Anfield in 2015.

Despite being a dependable member of the City squad for five seasons, making over 200 appearances and helping the side win two Premier League titles, one League Cup and one FA Cup, Milner was booed as he entered the action as a substitute.

Milner replaced Georginio Wijnaldum after 58 minutes, by which time City had already scored three of their five goals.

No-no Toure

Kolo Toure made his debut in the Sky Sports studio but the former Arsenal, City and Liverpool centre back didn't feel the need to dress up for the occasion.

The 36-year-old went for an untucked shirt with a tie bar... but no tie. Presenter Simo Thomas was also at pains to point out he wasn't wearing any socks.

Another debut nightmare for the Ox

Summer signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain came off the bench at half time to make an unhappy Liverpool debut.

At least it wasn't as bad as his first appearance for Arsenal, which came in an 8-2 defeat to Manchester United in 2011.

His Arsenal career ended in similarly awful fashion too, as he made a 62-minute cameo last month in a 4-0 loss to Liverpool, who then signed him four days later.

Liverpool fan fury

Considering their side's fine record against fellow members of the top six, Reds supporters were full of optimism before the game.

But that positivity had turned to anger and frustration by full time, with those of a Liverpool persuasion on social media making their feelings very clear.
