Stoke City 2-2 Manchester United PLAYER RATINGS: Maxim Choupo-Moting looks a threat as Phil Jones fails to impress for first time in a while

Stoke City came from behind against Manchester United on Saturday as both sides finished with a point.

Maxim Choupo-Moting scored the first of his two goals in the first half to put Stoke into the lead.

Marcus Rashford equalised for United in first-half stoppage time before Romelu Lukaku put them ahead 12 minutes into the second half.

Choupo-Moting scored six minutes after Lukaku struck to earn his side a share of the points.

Here, Sportsmail's Jack Gaughan runs the rule over the performance of both sides.

STOKE (3-4-2-1)

JACK BUTLAND - 7.5

One super stop from Marcus Rashford and never looks flustered. So unlucky for the second goal and incredible stoppage-time claw to preserve a point.

KURT ZOUMA - 7

Looking like the player Chelsea hope he can become. Physically imposing against a lively Rashford.

GEOFF CAMERON - 7

Relished the duel with Romelu Lukaku at the heart of Stoke's back three. Off at the break.

KEVIN WIMMER - 5.5

Can be difficult as a spare man in the three and it showed from a positional point of view.

Jack Butland made an outstanding save to prevent Stoke going behind in stoppage time

MAME DIOUF - 7

Superb delivery for the opening goal from wide and tracked back to help Zouma.

JOE ALLEN - 5.5

Industrious afternoon but was culpable for gifting away possession in the build-up to United's second.

DARREN FLETCHER - 7

Strong performance again. Broke up play well and can quicken Stoke's tempo on the ball.

ERIK PIETERS - 4.5

Wasteful in possession and had a torrid time on the left of the midfield four. Awful for Lukaku's goal.

XHERDAN SHAQIRI - 6.5

A box of tricks and carries the ball with such purpose. Lacked a final ball, however.

MAXIM CHOUPO-MOTING - 8

Certainly looks a threat, even if not everything comes off. A menace and two poacher's finishes.

JESE RODRIGUEZ - 7

Did have support around him and successfully ran in behind to cause United problems.

SUBS

BRUNO MARTINS-INDI (for Cameron, 46) - 6

Difficult game to come on in - particularly in the middle of Stoke's defence.

SAIDO BERAHINO (for Jese, 75) - 6

Still searching for that elusive Stoke goal.

Manager: Mark Hughes 7

MANCHESTER UNITED (4-3-3)

DAVID DE GEA - 7.5

Made a number of decent stops before half-time and one stunner afterwards, a world class save.

ANTONIO VALENCIA - 6.5

An auxiliary winger, flying up and down. Delivery was hit and miss but caused problems.

ERIC BAILLY - 5

Unusually shaky and will not want to watch Stoke's first goal back. Played the attacker onside and then lost his man.

PHIL JONES - 5

Couple of tricky moments early on and was caught ball watching from a corner to allow Stoke to equalise. Poor for the first time in a long time.

MATTEO DARMIAN - 6

Offered barely anything going forward and could not get a defensive handle on Stoke's right, although made one key contribution for the second goal.

NEMANJA MATIC - 7

Went unnoticed for much of the evening - exactly what Jose Mourinho will want from his holder.

ANDER HERRERA - 6

Really needs to start affecting games in the final third. Took the easy option too often on his first Premier League start.

PAUL POGBA - 6.5

Not nearly as effective as recent weeks but refuses to hide when things aren't working.

HENRIKH MKHITARYAN - 7

Probably would prefer to play more central and that's where Lukaku's goal came from. Drifts into tricky pockets and draws defenders with it.

ROMELU LUKAKU - 7

Opportunities were sparse but Lukaku refused to drop deep in search of possession and it paid off.

MARCUS RASHFORD - 7.5

Such a threat from the left with the ability to cut in or go the other way. Continuing to blossom under Mourinho.

United striker Romelu Lukaku didn't have as many opportunities as he would have liked

SUBS

JUAN MATA (for Rashford, 72) - 6

Tried to get on the ball and make things happen.

ANTHONY MARTIAL (for Herrera, 72) - 7

One wicked cross for Lukaku and embarrassed Diouf too.

JESSE LINGARD (for Mkhitaryan, 84)

Mourinho tried to freshen it up in search of a winner.
