Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson didn't let the facial injury he suffered following his clash with Sadio Mane stop him from enjoying an evening out with his family in Manchester on Saturday night.

The Brazilian left the pitch on a stretcher wearing a neck brace and oxygen mask following the clash, which saw Liverpool's Mane sent off for serious foul play, but it was later revealed he suffered no broken bones in the incident.

He was, however, still sporting the large white bandage covering stitches for a deep cut on his left cheek, while out with his family in the Deansgate area of the city on Saturday.

The goalkeeper, signed from Benfica in the summer, was pictured returning to his hotel in the city at around midnight, stopping to talk with fans after enjoying an evening with his family.

Ederson was attended to by the club's medical staff during the contest earlier in the day, after receiving eight minutes of treatment on the pitch, but was well enough to return to the stands by the end of his side's eventual 5-0 victory.

Mane was shown a straight red card after raising his foot from the floor to try and reach a through ball, catching Ederson in the face, during an incident which split pundits and fans alike who debated whether the forward deserved to be given his marching orders.

The Senegalese player made an apology to the goalkeeper on social media on Saturday night while both managers, Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola, insisted there was not a hint of malice in the challenge.

'I hope and wish Ederson a quick recovery,' Mane posted on his official Facebook page.

'I am so sorry he was hurt during our accidental collision on the pitch and am sorry for him that he could not complete the match because of it. I pray he heals fast and is back playing very soon!'

Guardiola said:  'Of course it was no intention from Mane because he didn't see him but the impact is hard. I think he followed the ball. But the action is dangerous. I don't know if it's a red card.

'Ederson hasn't broken the bone. Hopefully he can come back as soon as possible. He's OK. It was brave because Mane is coming and you can say, "I don't touch the ball".'

Klopp added: 'It was an accident, a very unlucky situation,' he said. 'I think everyone knows Sadio did not even see the goalie. He just wanted to get the ball as soon as possible.

'He's very, very upset. He is shocked about the situation and for sure also about the decision. Of course it would have a big influence.'

Ederson wasn't the only Manchester City player to enjoy an evening in the city on Saturday, following the crushing victory over the men from Anfield.

Gabriel Jesus, who scored twice in the game, visited San Carlo restaurant in Manchester with friends and his brother, having taken his season tally to three following his brace.

Sergio Aguero gave City the lead, as he rounded Simon Mignolet to finish well following a superb pass from Kevin De Bruyne, before Jesus and Leroy Sane both scored twice to complete the rout against Klopp's 10 men.

Sane's second, City's fifth, was the pick of the bunch as he expertly fired into the top corner to complete the victory to move his side second, behind rivals Manchester United on goal difference.
