Arsenal's first-team stars attend photo day as Alexis Sanchez joins in for squad picture and Danny Welbeck jokes around with Laurent Koscielny

  • Alexis Sanchez, despite missing out on move to Man City, attended photo day
  • Jack Wilshere was also present - and he is available to play for the Gunners 

Alexis Sanchez may have missed out on a deadline-day move to Manchester City but the wantaway Arsenal star appeared in high spirits at the club's photocall.

Arsene Wenger and his under-fire players posed for their first-team squad picture at the Premier League club's London Colney training base.

And among those in the snap was Sanchez and Jack Wilshere, both of whom were linked with exits during the summer transfer window.

And despite being expected to leave, the pair remained at the club and were therefore part of the squad's photo day on Tuesday.


And Sanchez looked happy to be part of the day, smiling alongside Nacho Monreal and Hector Bellerin despite failing to seal a move to City.

The general mood around the camp appeared to be positive, with Danny Welbeck enjoying a joke with France defender Laurent Koscielny. 

And it was a memorable day for one person in particular, with a young lucky mascot joining the squad for a picture.

In a video posted on the club's Twitter page, Mesut Ozil led the youngster to a space in front of manager Wenger, and he was fortunate enough to get involved in a snap.

Meanwhile, Wilshere is fit to make his first Arsenal appearance in 13 months against Cologne on Thursday night.

The midfielder is expected to be available for selection for the Europa League encounter after fully recovering from a broken leg.

Arsene Wenger said on Saturday that Wilshere was nearing fill fitness after stepping up his recovery.

And the midfielder is now in line to make his first appearance for the club since leaving on loan for Bournemouth last season.

Sanchez, Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott could also feature as Wenger looks to maintain his squad's sharpness and fitness.
