Chelsea's Davide Zappacosta is the 100th Italian to score in the Champions League... but who else makes a list including Antonio Conte, Roberto Baggio and Mario Balotelli?

Davide Zappacosta marked his first Chelsea start with a spectacular goal as his side easily disposed of Qarabag - making a piece of history for his country in the process.

The wing back fired the ball home from close to the right touchline 30 minutes into the game and, although the effort was undoubtedly a cross, it was enough to ensure a century of Champions League goalscorers for his home country of Italy.

In total the 100 Italian Champions League goalscorers have netted 399 times between them, ranging from household names to one-game wonders.

Alessandro Del Piero, who played almost all of his career with Juventus, netted 42 

The first came on September 16, 1992, when AC Milan's Demetrio Albertini found the net just seven minutes into his side's eventual 4-0 victory over Lyon, with the midfielder going on to net four times in the Champions League before retirement in 1995.

Since then Italian clubs have won the Champions League on four occasions, with Inter the last to do so under the guidance of Jose Mourinho in 2010.

Filippo Inzaghi won two of those titles with AC Milan, and leads the way when it comes to Italians goalscorers in the competition with 46. He remains the third oldest player to score in the competition, aged 37 years and 85 days when he netted against Real Madrid in November 2010, putting him behind only Ryan Giggs and Francesco Totti, who himself netted 17 times at Europe's top table.

Behind Inzaghi in the Italian scoring stakes sits Alessandro Del Piero, the wizard of Turin who netted 42 times and helped Juventus win the competition in 1995-96. He scored six on the Old Lady's run to the final that year, where Fabrizio Ravanelli scored one of his seven Champions League goals in a 1-1 draw with Ajax which was eventually decided on penalties. 

Below the likes Christian Vieri, once the most expensive player in world football when he moved Lazio to Inter in 1999 for £28m, has netted 10 Champions League goals while Mario Balotelli and Andrea Pirlo are among those on eight. 

Zappacosta's manager at Chelsea, Antonio Conte, features on the list with five goals, while perhaps surprisingly the great Roberto Baggio managed only four goals in the Champions League era.

There is a real mix of names joining Zappacosta on just one striker, with Bernardo Corradi and Simone Zaza joining established stars such as Gennaro Gattuso and Fabio Cannavaro.
