Gabriel Jesus has the best minutes-per-goal ratio in Premier League history... he sits above Sergio Aguero (and Adam Le Fondre!) in the top 10

  • Gabriel Jesus hit the ground running after moving to Manchester City in January
  • The Brazilian striker has scored 11 Premier League goals in 977 minutes of play
  • Sportsmail takes a look at the best minutes-per-goal ratios in the league's history
  • His team-mate Sergio Aguero is second, averaging a goal every 108 minutes

Gabriel Jesus looks to be well on his way to making Premier League history after a flying start to his career with Manchester City.

The Brazilian striker has already become a mainstay in Pep Guardiola's side after arriving in January and has 11 Premier League goals to show from his 977 minutes on the pitch.

When accounting for players with a minimum of 10 goals, Jesus is the most prolific star ever to grace the Premier League, averaging a goal every 88.82 minutes.

But how does that stand up against the other quick-hitters both past and present? Sportsmail crunches the numbers to reveal all.

Unsurprisingly, his team-mate and strike partner Sergio Aguero is second on the all-time list but takes a full 20 minutes more, on average, to find the back of the net. His tally of 127 goals, however, makes Jesus' tally look relatively paltry.

The other players to score more than 100 goals and make the list are former Arsenal's Thierry Henry (175 goals, 121.79 minutes) and Robin van Persie (144 goals, 139.69), but Tottenham star Harry Kane (80 goals, 119.53 minutes) looks set to join them in the near future.

In fact, the 24-year-old can expect to dethrone Alan Shearer as the all-time top scorer and will reach the 260-goal barrier within his next 240 Premier League appearances at his current rate.

One surprise name on the list is Adam Le Fondre, who hit 12 goals in a single season for Reading during the 2012-13 campaign. Despite the impressive tally in 34 appearances, he couldn't spare them from relegation or earn himself a move back to the Premier League. He now plays for Bolton in the Championship.

Some may also be surprised to see Kelechi Iheanacho in third position, but his uncanny ability to score from the bench for Manchester City once saw him sit above Aguero in the order.

Since moving to Leicester in the summer, his minutes-per-goal ratio has taken a significant hit after he failed to score in his first three appearances. He will do well to still be in the top 10 by the time his Premier League career comes to an end.

The same can also be said of Javier Hernandez, who sits in eighth place after scoring a hatfull of goals from the bench for Manchester United. He now faces the much more difficult challenge of finding the back of the net for struggling West Ham.

Making his challenge harder, Slaven Bilic has deployed the Mexican in the unfamiliar position on the left wing, meaning his 134.03 minutes-per-goal is likely to suffer.
