In a second post, the former Real Madrid midfielder wrote: 'Good news: I'm back training on the pitch. As you might have heard I'm suffering from a minor inflammation of my knee.

'Feeling better each day now and hope to be back playing very soon!'

Ozil has not played since the 3-0 win over Bournemouth on September 9, missing the victory over Cologne in the Europa League and the creditable draw at Chelsea last weekend.

Arsene Wenger will be able to call upon him in the near future following a 'minor inflammation' of his knee, but Ozil will not feature in the Carabao Cup third-round tie at home to Doncaster Rovers.

The 28-year-old had made an underwhelming start to the campaign and was heavily criticised once more for his abject display in the 4-0 loss at Liverpool before the international break.

Gunners' fans will hope Ozil returns fully fit and ready to kick-start his season with the side currently 12th in the Premier League after five games.

Arsenal face West Brom at the Emirates Stadium on Monday night followed by a trip to Belarus to face Bate Borisov in the Europa League next Thursday.
