Jose Mourinho was right to say Manchester United played Playstation football against Basle, says Henrikh Mkhitaryan ahead of CSKA Moscow tie

  • Manchester United take on CSKA Moscow in the Champions League this week
  • They won their first game in this season's competition 3-0 against Basle
  • Jose Mourinho accused his team of playing Playstation football in the game
  • Henrikh Mkhitaryan admitted that they were not at their best on the night

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has no problem with Jose Mourinho's 'Playstation football' criticism of his Manchester United side.

Mourinho, who is in Russia to face CSKA Moscow, came up with the description of his team after watching their 3-0 Champions League victory over Basle two weeks ago in game one.

Some players might have taken offence to the barb but not United's, according to Mkhitaryan, who said the squad accepted they had not performed to their best.

'Everyone knows Jose Mourinho is very demanding and what he said is right,' the Armenian said ahead of the group-stage clash with CSKA Moscow in Russia on Wednesday night.

'He didn't exactly say names, but everyone thinks he did some something bad or made some mistakes.

'We're trying to improve that aspect and be more focused during the whole game and not to start playing some fantasy football as he said or Playstation football in the last 20 or 25 minutes.'

United's players seemed to be in excellent spirits as they were put through their paces by Mourinho on the training ground on Tuesday.

They currently sit second in the Premier League but face a stiff examination in Moscow.

CSKA won their opening game of the competition against Benfica and Mhkitaryan is wary of the threat they pose this week.

And he revealed he keeps a close eye on the Russian league.

'I watch a lot of CSKA games in the Russian league and they have a lot of experience in their team,' he said.

'But Champions League games are very different to Russian league games and we expect them to play differently against us.'
