It looks like Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola takes his work home after a day at the training ground.

The City boss was spotted on Wednesday heading back to his Salford apartment with a tactics board tucked under his arm.

Guardiola is putting in the extra work ahead of City's biggest domestic test so far this season - a trip to Premier League champions Chelsea on Sunday.

While he clearly does not think the hours at the training ground are enough to perfect his tactical vision, Guardiola is clearly doing something right this season, based on his team's performances.

They have won their last three league fixtures by a combined score of 16-0 - two home five goal thrashings of Liverpool and Crystal Palace, plus a 6-0 demolition of Watford.

City are looking set for a run in Europe too, although they were not at their fluent best when seeing off Shakhtar Donetsk 2-0 midweek in the Champions League.

Guardiola looked pre-occupied and concerned as he returned home in typically casual attire of dark jumper, jeans and trainers.

While this was partly because of the cameras pointed at him, it will also be due to his knowledge of the importance of the upcoming game.

City lost both fixtures against Chelsea last season, and the ex-Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager will be desperate to avoid a repeat.

They will have to manage without £52m full back Benjamin Mendy, who could be set for a long spell on the sidelines with a knee injury.
