Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is relishing having a few extra tricks up his sleeve this season.
Pochettino was criticised for sticking too rigidly to one formation in his early years at Spurs, but this season he has already developed two more styles of play. When Spurs travel to Huddersfield on Saturday their manager David Wagner will not be certain how his opponents will set up.
'I hear many things, Plan B, Plan C, the most important thing is to have a plan, to have many plans,' Pochettino said.
Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has been hailed for his tactical flexibility this season
'It's important to have different ways to play because sometimes you have different players available to play and pick. Then always it's to be flexible and to try to change in different games to play in different ways - it's always it's important.'
The Argentine explained his reasons for taking time to experiment with new systems. He needed the players to learn his basic philosophy over a period of time before he was confident enough to challenge them.
Pochettino said: 'When you arrive from the beginning it's normal, when you want to settle the philosophy, all the players need to understand how you think, how you work, you cannot change one day to five at the back, four, three, and then two strikers, three strikers, one striker, without a striker.
'It's important to provide a good balance and solidity, be clear with them in all the concepts. That was what happened from the beginning.
'Today we have more of the players working with us after two or three seasons and you have more time to provide the team different ways to play.'
Boss is now relishing having more tactical options at his disposal than his early days at Spurs
