Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata appears in high spirits as he hangs out with wife Alice Campello and steps up recovery from hamstring injury

  • Alvaro Morata suffered a hamstring injury against Manchester City on Saturday
  • Morata is recovering and is being looked after by his wife Alice Campello
  • Morata is missing Spain's World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Israel

Alvaro Morata may currently be injured with a hamstring injury but the Chelsea star doesn't seem too disheartened with the setback.

Morata pulled up with an injury early on in Chelsea's 1-0 defeat by Manchester City and he was later diagnosed with 'a grade II myofascial injury in the hamstring muscles', after having an MRI scan in Madrid.

But Morata, who is missing Spain's upcoming international fixtures against Albania and Israel, doesn't appear to be letting his injury bother him too much as he is currently enjoying some downtime with his wife Alice Campello and spending time in the gym recovering.

Campello took to Instagram on Thursday afternoon to post a photo of the loved-up couple poking their tongues out at the camera.

Furthermore, Morata posted a couple of videos on his Instagram story of him cycling intensely in the gym as he looks to get back to full fitness as quickly as possible.

Morata will be hoping that his Spanish team-mates can put a smile on his face by qualifying for the 2018 Russia World Cup with victory in their final two qualifying games.

Spain currently sit three points clear of Italy at the top of their World Cup qualifying group and victory over Albania on Friday night will virtually seal their place in Russia due to their superior goal difference over the Azzurri.

But if Italy beat Macedonia on the same evening, Julen Lopetegui's men will be guaranteed a place in Russia by claiming just a point away at Israel in their final qualifying game.

Meanwhile, despite being diagnosed with the grade II myofascial injury after having an MRI scan at the Sanitas University Hospital of La Moraleja in Madrid, Chelsea are eager to reassess the damage to his leg and the striker is targeting an immediate return to action.

It was thought the 24-year-old could miss up to six matches in all competitions for Chelsea, with that type of strain typically keeping a player out of action for up to four weeks.

However, Morata had an upbeat message for fans on Facebook on Tuesday as he gave the camera the thumbs up and suggested he is targeting a return in Chelsea's very next match - away at Crystal Palace on October 14.

The former Real Madrid and Juventus man wrote on his social media page: 'I have no time to lose! Working hard towards recovery!' He added a target sign beside the name Crystal Palace.
