Former Liverpool and Bolton midfielder Jay Spearing joins Blackpool until end of the season

  • Jay Spearing has joined League One Blackpool until the end of the season 
  • Former Liverpool midfielder has been a free agent since his release from Bolton 
  • Spearing previously played under Gary Bowyer while on loan at Blackburn
  • Former Rovers defender Adam Henley is also on trial with the Lancashire club

Former Liverpool and Bolton Wanderers midfielder Jay Spearing has joined Blackpool until the end of the season.

The 28-year-old Spearing has been training with the League One club for the past two weeks. 

He previously played under manager Gary Bowyer while on loan at Blackburn.

Spearing said: 'The standard of the lads in training has been brilliant and the gaffer's got them playing in the right direction.'


Blackpool are ninth in League One. Former Blackburn defender Adam Henley, 23, is on trial with the club after his release by Blackburn this summer. 

Blackpool are also set to appoint former Blackburn assistant Terry McPhillips to Bowyer's staff.
