Arsenal weighing up move for £18m Miguel Almiron but Arsene Wenger must battle Inter Milan for midfielder

Arsenal are prepared to go head to head with Inter Milan in the race to sign Miguel Almiron in a bid to strengthen their midfield.

The attacking midfielder has been a long-time target for Inter Milan despite joining MLS side Atlanta United from Argentine outfit Lanus for £10million only 10 months ago.

The Gunners though have also registered an interest for the Paraguay international, who has 12 caps for his country.

According to Calciomercato, Inter have been weighing up an offer of as much as £18m for the 23-year-old.


Under the guidance of former Barcelona manager Tata Martino, Almiron has continued to shine in the MLS prompting the San Siro outfit to renew their interest.

Arsene Wenger has been assessing his midfield options since the summer transfer window closed, having sold Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Liverpool, while Mesut Ozil will be out of contract at the end of the season.

The Arsenal boss is already considering bringing Jack Wilshere back into the fold providing he can prove his form and fitness before the January window opens.

Wilshere struggled last season while on loan at Bournemouth but has impressed this term featuring for the north London side in the League Cup and the Europa League.
