Premier League football returns this weekend, and with it comes yet more questions over who will win the title come May?

We're only seven games in but already the title contenders are threatening to break away from the rest.

But who has the best attack, who has the most strength in depth and who will be challenging for the Golden Boot? Sportsmail takes a look...

Romelu Lukaku currently has the most Premier League goals, but who has the best attack?

Arsenal

How do they usually line up?

Arsene Wenger is playing much the same formation as last season, with one main striker flanked by two in behind. Following some summer recruitment, the main man up top has changed, but the style remains similar. 3-4-2-1 is Wenger's go-to line-up.

Who's the main man?

Following his arrival in July, Alexandre Lacazette is Arsenal's preferred front-man, pushing Olivier Giroud to a bit-part role. The two in behind vary from game to game, although Alexis Sanchez occupies one of the roles more often than not. Alex Iwobi started in the Gunners' last game, but Theo Walcott, Aaron Ramsey and Danny Welbeck have all been used this season.

What are the other options?

Olivier Giroud is the standout option for a different striker. He has 100 goals in his Arsenal career, usually finishing a season at around the 20-goal mark. This season may end with a different result given his substitute role. Sanchez is also capable of playing a more central striking role, while Welbeck would also be delighted to feature more prominently when fit. Other than that, Walcott can play up top and Chuba Akpom - 22 on Monday - is ready and waiting for his chance.

Alexandre Lacazette has started well for Arsenal, but he's not a Golden Boot contender yet

What's their season been like so far?

It's fair to say Arsenal fans are content with the form of Lacazette, who has netted four times in the Premier League so far and shows much promise. That said, when looking at their rivals, they long for a player like Romelu Lukaku or Alvaro Morata, who have both hit the ground running at their new clubs. Arsenal are fifth in the table, but the jury is still out on whether Lacazette can be prolific.

Chances of winning the Golden Boot?

Unlikely. As previously mentioned, there are other strikers who have found their feet more quickly than Lacazette, but expect him to kick on to around the 20-goal mark this season. In his debut season in English football, that will be a decent return... but probably not enough to fire the Gunners to glory in the Premier League.

Firepower rating

The options are there, but a lot of pressure has been heaped on the shoulders of Lacazette, who is expected to bring the goals. Sanchez in behind improves their ranking hugely, but other than that it's a fairly average front-line.

Chelsea

How do they usually line up?

The formation sometimes changes, but the principle remains the same - Chelsea play with a target man. Sometimes it's with five in midfield and Hazard in behind, sometimes it's with four in midfield and two in behind the striker. But it's always one up front, and that one is Alvaro Morata.

Who's the main man?

Morata has Diego Costa's sizeable boots to fill, but he's doing a brilliant job with six Premier League goals so far. Last season at Real Madrid, and even before that at Juventus, he didn't have all eyes on him, but he seems to be adapting to English football well. He's currently joint second in the list of Premier League top scorers.

What are the other options?

Michy Batshuayi came on and took his chance against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, netting a last-gasp winner to fire Antonio Conte's side to three points. That said, he is not particularly close to a starting place in the league... he has five goals in all competitions, but none in the top flight. Morata is the main man, even more so given Costa's exit to Atletico Madrid. Hazard, Pedro and Willian are all capable of playing in behind, and could take on a more attacking role if needed.

Alvaro Morata hit the ground running at Chelsea, and fans will hope he can keep it up

What's their season been like so far?

Four wins, a draw and two defeats. Things have certainly improved since an opening day defeat against Burnley, but they couldn't get anything against Manchester City last time out. It looks as though City and United are the two strongest this season, but Conte's men won't be too far behind.

Chances of winning the Golden Boot?

Morata has started well, but he will need to find the net against the bigger teams if he is to stake a claim for the Golden Boot. Goals against Burnley, Everton, Leicester and Stoke are all very well, but the likes of Lukaku and Kane will do it against the big guns too.

Firepower rating

Solely due to Morata's precision in front of goal, Chelsea get a 7.5. They will be hoping and praying the Spaniard isn't struck down by injury, though. Batshuayi is decent enough, but he's not got the capacity to win Chelsea the league. Whether Morata does remains to be seen.

Liverpool

How do they usually line up?

Klopp's preferred formation is 4-3-3, a fluid front-line that gets the best out of the likes of Mohamed Salah, Philippe Coutinho, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and more.

Who's the main man?

Good question. On paper Coutinho is their best player, but in the last two fixtures he has played behind the front three in the midfield. Klopp has opted for Salah and Mane wide of late, with Firmino in the middle... which would indicate that the Brazilian is indeed the main man.

What are the other options?

Daniel Sturridge, Danny Ings and Dominic Solanke are the three members of Liverpool's squad that you could consider out-and-out strikers, but two of them are perennially injured and the other isn't yet ready for week in, week out top-flight football. Sturridge has bags of talent, but if he cannot keep himself fit then it's impossible for Klopp to rely on him. An honourable mention goes to Wales' Ben Woodburn, who has the potential to be excellent if nurtured correctly.

Roberto Firmino has been playing in the middle of a front three, but there's no real main man

Roberto Firmino has been playing in the middle of a front three, but there's no real main man

What's their season been like so far?

Below par. They've only lost once, but three wins in seven is not the kind of form fans will have hoped for, or expected. Goals have been few and far between, and the less said about the 5-0 defeat at Manchester City, the better. They need to find a way to turn 1-1 draws into 2-1 wins.

Chances of winning the Golden Boot?

Liverpool's goals are too spread around the team to have one man gunning for the Golden Boot. In fairness to him, Salah has four Premier League goals to his name so far, and Mane's behind with three, but they are unlikely to be challenging come the start of 2018.

Firepower rating

Too many cooks etc etc. It's firmly a case of quantity over quality with Liverpool, who have plenty of attacking players, but no one man who will win them the league. Klopp is relying on all his attackers to fire, but so far it hasn't worked out that way.

1: Sergio Aguero - six goals

2: Raheem Sterling - five

3: Gabriel Jesus - four

Manchester City

How do they usually line up?

Pep Guardiola has a player in Sergio Aguero who he could easily base his team around... but he also has Gabriel Jesus, who you could say the same about. With that in mind, the Spaniard has been playing two up front, and so far it's working wonders. Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling and David Silva form the three behind, and they too have been coming up with the goods. It's a joy to watch.

Who's the main man?

There isn't one, and that is so far working in Guardiola's favour. Jesus started up top in the club's last league game, and Aguero the game before that. Oh, and in the game before that, they both started up top. There was some contention over how well Aguero would take to not having the team built around him, but it's so far so good and City sit top of the tree.

What are the other options?

There's plenty, in terms of both formation and personnel. 4-3-3, 4-5-1, 4-4-2... with these players, it seems as though anything is possible. Jesus, Aguero, Silva, Sterling, De Bruyne and Sane all come up with goals and assists, and the team have netted 22 times already.

Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero have performed excellently together so far this season

Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero have performed excellently together so far this season

What's their season been like so far?

Excellent. Seven games: six wins, one draw, 22 goals for and just two against. Jesus and Aguero are working well together, and they came through their first real test - away at Chelsea - unscathed and with three points in the bag.

Chances of winning the Golden Boot?

It's unclear so far, given the amount of players capable of scoring for City. Aguero and Jesus are the two you'd expect to have a chance, but if the likes of Sterling and Sane keep scoring at the rate they are, then it's unlikely there will be a standout candidate. That said, in the top 20 Premier League scorers come May, don't be alarmed if City occupy about half of the places.

Firepower rating

Without a doubt the most formidable front-line in English football, and up there with the best in the world. Plenty of options, plenty of goals, and plenty of excitement.

Manchester United

How do they usually line up?

With Romelu Lukaku at your disposal, how else would you line up but with one up top? All roads lead to the Belgian, and he's been in exceptional form since his arrival at Old Trafford. Jose Mourinho tends to play three men in behind the striker, with Juan Mata, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Marcus Rashford invariably included.

Who's the main man?

Lukaku, plain and simple. He arrived at United in a £75million deal from Everton in the summer, and has scored in all but one Premier League match this season. A round of applause for Leicester, ladies and gentlemen... the only team to keep him out. He's scored in every other league game, every other cup game, and even every other international game. He's a man at the peak of his powers.

What are the other options?

Should Mourinho want to add a touch of pace to proceedings, Anthony Martial is ready and raring to go from the bench. He has played a bit-part role so far, and when he does come on it usually isn't for Lukaku, but Rashford or another wide man. One man that also shouldn't be forgotten is Zlatan Ibrahimovic, injured at the moment... but he'll be back and desperate to reclaim a spot later in the season.

Lukaku has been in exceptional form this season, and has only not scored in one game so far

Lukaku has been in exceptional form this season, and has only not scored in one game so far

What's their season been like so far?

Excellent. United are second only to their city rivals, and even then only by virtue of goal difference. There's a long way to go, but with 21 goals in their first seven matches, Mourinho's men should be right up there come the end of the season.

Chances of winning the Golden Boot?

Arguably it is between Lukaku and Tottenham's Harry Kane for the Golden Boot at the moment, with both men firing week in, week out. Lukaku, in fairness, has not had to do it against some of the bigger teams in the league yet, but he has shown that he is more than capable. United did well to sign their man in the summer, and at the moment their plan is coming together nicely.

Firepower rating

It is difficult to give United as high a rating as their noisy neighbours at the Etihad, but it is certainly the second-best attack in the top flight. Lukaku is arguably the best out-and-out striker in the world, while Rashford, Martial and Ibrahimovic are all exceptional players on their day.

Tottenham

How do they usually line up?

As with a few others in the Premier League's big six, Tottenham tend to plump with one up top... and they've definitely got the right player to pull it off. Harry Kane is the main man, and Spurs fans will hope that is the case for many years to come. Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen play in behind him, creating a formidable attacking threat.

Who's the main man?

Kane, every single time. He's Tottenham's best striker, he's England's best striker... and he is up there among the world's best strikers. With an incredible eye for goal, he is prone to scoring every single week, and Pochettino, as he keeps saying, is running out of superlatives for his favourite player.

What are the other options?

That's where Tottenham come unstuck. If Kane were to suffer a serious injury, they'd be in trouble... not to mention the national day of mourning with a World Cup around the corner. Heung-min Son and Fernando Llorente are the back-up options, but neither are anywhere near as good as Kane. Son, in particular, showed his prowess last season - and even started up top with Kane in the Champions League last month - but neither are capable of firing Spurs to the title.

Harry Kane is Tottenham and England's best striker, and is up there among the world's best too

What's their season been like so far?

Tottenham sit third in the league, with four wins and a single defeat from their seven opening games. That loss was against Chelsea in August, but since then they've done enough to keep themselves right in contention. October is a huge month, with games against Liverpool and Manchester United to come.

Chances of winning the Golden Boot?

With every bookmaker, Kane is the favourite. He's got six in seven so far, one behind Lukaku, but should he keep up this form he will almost certainly be in contention. Overall this season for club and country, Kane has 15 goals in 13 games (including a barren August) and is now widely recognised as one of the best strikers on the planet.

Firepower rating

Tottenham get a 7.5, and the only reason it's not higher is because of the lack of strength in depth. Llorente and Son are good, but not good enough to fire a top four team to the title. Alli and Eriksen should get a mention, for providing Kane with brilliant service, as well as a goal or two themselves.

7.5/10
