Craig Shakespeare eyes 'great opportunity' to kick start Leicester season and turn performance into points against West Brom

Craig Shakespeare admits Leicester need to start turning good performances into points - beginning with West Brom at the King Power Stadium.

Shakespeare has faced a tough start to his first full season as Leicester boss, having already played Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool in the first seven matches of the Premier League campaign.

Leicester's only points so far have come via victory against Brighton and draws with Huddersfield and Bournemouth, and heading into Monday night's match they find themselves in the bottom three.

However, Shakespeare's side now face a run of fixtures from which they will be expected to pick up points.

'The school report will say we could do better, I don't hide behind that,' said the Leicester boss.

'We have had some really decent performances where we have not got the results the performances have merited.

'But we have also had performances where we have probably been fortunate to come away with points at times.

'We have a great opportunity now at home against West Brom on Monday to not only gather three points but to put in a performance.

'I see our quality and commitment every day in training. The hardest thing is sometimes translating that into the game, but the work ethic I will never doubt.

Jamie Vardy will be looking to make an impact against West Brom after recovering from injury 

'I think what you want is to be more consistent. Whether you are playing a top-four team or whether it is the teams in and around you at the moment, you have to be competitive in all the games. We have been.

'But we are striving for better performances and better results. In all matches I want to get something from them.

'Ultimately you have to make sure you are focused on each game and the next one is West Brom. After that we can focus on Swansea.'

Jamie Vardy and Wilfred Ndidi will be fit. Vardy was left out of the England squad due to an ongoing hip problem but the striker has recovered during the international break, while a suspected hamstring injury sustained by Ndidi while playing for Nigeria turned out to be just cramp.

Defender Ben Chilwell (knee) was withdrawn from the England Under-21 squad as a precaution but he is also fit. Robert Huth (ankle) and Matty James (Achilles) remain unavailable.
