West Ham 0-3 Brighton & Hove Albion, Premier League RESULT: Glenn Murray and Jose Izquierdo pile pressure on Slaven Bilic

MATT BARLOW AT THE LONDON STADIUM: For Slaven Bilic, the closest thing to a positive came before a ball had been kicked when West Ham's co-chairman David Sullivan settled down for an interview with Gary Neville.

'The manager has a three-year contract and is entitled to these three years,' Sullivan told Sky Sports as the crystals on his tie twinkled in the floodlights.

'He didn't sign a two-year contract or a one-year contract. He is entitled to three years.

'I believe in morality and what's right. After the season we will sit down and see if he wants to stay on and if we want him to stay on. That's a long way off.

'I think the manager has a three-year contract and is entitled to these three years.

'If you sign a contract you desperately want to honour that contract unless things are desperate.'

By the time the night was out, things did seem little more desperate.

Pressure really on Bilic on after a drab display but credit to the Seagulls, that was a brilliant away performance.

90mins: Brief pause as Brown and Reid collide with both needing treatment for head injuries. The game ticks into three minutes of added time as it re-starts.

KIERAN GILL: Reminder of what David Sullivan said before kick-off: 'I believe in morality and what's right, if you sign a contract I want to honour the contract.'

86mins: Lanzini lands only West Ham's second shot on target all game with an effort from 25 yards that Ryan easily gathers.

84mins: Final change for Brighton, Ezequiel Scheletto on for Knockaert.

KIERAN GILL: Sure there are a lot more empty white seats than there were in the first half... a few fans stayed downstairs for another pint?

Boos ringing out here. Fans aren't happy. Bilic on the ropes.

76mins: Gross has had his last action, on comes Izzy Brown for the last 15 minutes. Fernandes is also on, replacing Arnautovic.

75mins: Murray sticks it away, straight down the middle. 

74mins: Zabaleta lazily brings down Murray in the box and it's easy one for Martin Atkinson.

74mins: Knockaert shows the kind of form that made him the best player in the Championship last season as he steals the ball off Lanzini before beating Reid and Fonte and picks out Murray. The striker wastes a glorious chance to make it 3-0 with a poor first touch and hurried shot from the angle.

69mins: Izquierdo goes off for Solly March, he can be happy with his day even if his last contribution was to leave the ball behind when slipped through on goal behind by Murray.

65mins: Lanzini gets another go when Knockaert concedes a foul in a similar position and this one is much better. It takes a nick off the wall and goes just past Ryan's right-hand post. The corner comes to nothing.

63mins: Well that embarrassing for Lanzini. Gross gives away a free-kick 30 yards out but the Argentine blazes over deep into the stand behind the goal and that takes some doing at the London Stadium.

59mins: A booking is surely coming for Murray, they're not serious fouls but they are starting to add up. The latest, a pull on Reid, brings a word from referee Martin Atkinson.

55mins: Gross could teach the West Ham players about delivery. Duffy hits the base of the post from another excellent set piece only to see the flag go up. 

KIERAN GILL: Andy Carroll's costly and foolish sending off against Burnley is hitting home here.

One of Slaven Bilic’s rules is that injured or suspended players turn up to show their support, so Carroll is in the crowd at the London Stadium. 

He must be cringing watching inviting crosses go to waste. His physical presence is missed here.

With him out and Diafra Sakho injured, West Ham’s options were limited. They have been left with Javier Hernandez, who had suffered a hamstring strain in training this week.

53mins: Poor delivery is really costing West Ham. Masuaku earns a corner when a poorly directed cross hits Bruno, the only man in his way. Lanzini's set piece is better but goes all the way across the six yard box and safely behind.

49mins: Another great bit of defending by Duffy as he nicks away a header after Izquierdo gave the ball away to Zabaleta on the right-hand edge of the box. The move breaks down as Arnautovic tamely crosses into the arms of Ryan.

46mins: The second half is kicked off by Brighton.

Andre Ayew on for Cheikhou Kouyate as Bilic looks for a route back into the game.

And with that, the first period comes to an end. Great away performance from Brighton, West Ham on the other hand could be playing their manager out of a job.

45+2mins: Hart must think he's saved his side as he denies Murray one-on-one from a rapid Brighton counter but then he's beaten by Izquierdo!

The ball comes to the Seagull's record signing on the right, he cuts inside and bends a shot toward the top corner, Hart gets a hand on it but cannot keep it out. What a way to get your first Premier League goal.

45mins: Bong gives the ball away in midfield and Arnautovic drives West ham upfield before slipping it to Hernandez, the striker fires low and has Ryan at full stretch but the keeper is able to watch it fly past his far post.

42mins: Great pass from midfield finds Hernandez who takes it under his spell in the box looks odds on to score before Ryan rushes out to smother. The offside flag goes up to spare the Mexican.

39mins: Half chance for Hernandez as he's picked out in the box by Zabaleta but Duffy is quickly out to him to make a key block. Unsurprisingly, Jamie Carragher loved that defending.

35mins: 10 minutes of the half left and Brighton have weathered that storm. West Ham still controlling the game but have just taken their foot off the gas a little.

30mins: West Ham have really found their stride in the last five minutes. Every Brighton player is in their own half as they try to repel the hosts' attack. No clear openings but it's relentless pressure.

27mins: Bong gets back to make a crucial block in front of Arnautovic when another half-cleared corner is clipped back in. The Austrian appeared to have clear shot from six yards out but the full-back got back to deflect it away.

26mins: Brighton struggle to clear their lines and West Ham step up the pressure, forcing a corner after a series of crosses into the box.

22mins: Two more down now, Knockaert and Hernandez collide and both need treatment. Antonio is back on, walking gingerly.

For his part in the incident Hernandez goes into the book, a tad harsh.

20mins: Michail Antonio tries to run Lewis Dunk but does not count on the pace of Izquierdo getting back to slide the ball out for a corner. Antonio has a problem too, he goes down holding his ribs and is not on the pitch for the corner.

From the set-piece, Reid gets a half-chance but his effort is deflected wide by Dunk. Brighton clear the second corner.

14mins: Bilic does not look comfortable as he stands on the edge of his sizeable technical area. Under him the Irons have won just five games after falling behind, so he has reason to be concerned. Brighton looking comfortable.

10mins: Glenn Murray puts Brighton ahead! Dream start for the Seagulls as Gross delivers an inviting set-piece into the box and Murray is there and beats Joe Hart with an accurate header into the bottom corner.

5mins: It's a clever set piece from the Seagulls as Izquierdo pulls off his man and is picked out on the edge of the box by Pascal Gross, the Colombian blazes high and over the bar though.

4mins: West Ham controlling possession in the early stages, you expect that will be a patterns that continues throughout. Chris Hughton is happy for his side to soak up pressure and break. Although Anthony Knockaert leads a charge up field and wins the game's first corner.

1min: We're underway in east London. West Ham in their traditional home colours, Brighton in yellow.

Kick-off in five minutes.

A big win for either side could see them climb as high as ninth, that would take a lot of goals mind. However, the top half is in the sights of both managers this evening.

IAN LADYMAN: Sometimes in life, you have to address your failings if you are going to move forwards. Marko Arnautovic feels that he knows this well. 

At 28, Arnautovic is West Ham's record signing but is not yet the footballer he wants to be or feels he should be. Not this season, not ever. 

Teenage years spent running with the gangs in Vienna maybe did not help. Regular expulsions from junior football clubs definitely did not help. And then there was the time he was late for Jose Mourinho three times in a single day.

Interview with Slaven Bilic in his office before kick-off, interview with David Sullivan in his box, now Andy Carroll (donning a cap) and James Collins (donning a flat-cap) are pitchside being interviewed.

West Ham co-chair touched on a number of subjects with Gary Neville: 'Coming here for the first game of the season. For a year it did feel like an away stadium, it does feel like home now.

'We've got the cheapest season tickets in the Premier League, we couldn't do that at Upton Park.

'If we can get something tonight and against Crystal Palace we can start looking up the table.'

On Bilic's future, Sullivan added: 'I believe in morality and what's right, if you sign a contract I want to honour the contract. [Bilic] signed a three year contract but at the end of the season we'll sit down and discuss going forward.

'Right now the players are better than the team. He doesn't know his best XI, when he does we'll be hard to beat.'

Brighton boss Chris Hughton believes under-fire West Ham manager Slaven Bilic deserves more time to turn things around as the pair prepare to meet at the London Stadium.

Both men have seen their clubs pick up eight points from their opening eight fixtures and, while that represents a decent return for the newly-promoted Seagulls, it has increased the pressure on Bilic following a summer of big spending and rising expectation.

Hughton, however, regards talk of Premier League managers losing their jobs as premature.

'Personally, I think it is too soon,' he said. 'But it's something that we have very much got used to.

'It's the pressure of management, it's the pressure of needing to get results so quickly. The clamour of everybody involved in the club, in the game, that you have to get instant results.'

Interesting to see that Arthur Masuaku has started ahead of Aaron Cresswell. About time, as far as some West Ham fans are concerned.

Jose Izquierdo gets his second start in place of Solly March with Gaetan Bong replcing Markus Suttner.

Arthur Masuaku and Pedro Obiang come in for Aaron Cresswell and the suspended Andy Carroll.
