Southampton 1-0 West Brom, Premier League RESULT: Sofiane Boufal comes off bench to score stunning solo goal
- Sofiane Boufal scored only goal for Southampton with four minutes left to play
- Until then, game was devoid of real quality with chances few and far between
- Southampton's victory takes them above opponent West Brom to 10th in table
West Brom travel to the south coast looking to halt their recent poor run of form.
The Baggies haven't won any of their last five Premier League games and face a Southampton side who have only won once in the same sequence.

And there it is! Southampton hold on, and that stunning solo effort from Sofiane Boufal is the difference at St Mary's.
With almost the last kick of the game, Boufal set up Charlie Austin for a chance, but from an impossible angle he can only hit the outside of the post.
In the end, it's an invaluable three points for Southampton, who move up to 10th and above their opponents!
90mins: After shutting up shop at 0-0 and using all his substitutions, this is a real struggle for Tony Pulis and West Brom now. Four minutes added on at the end of this match. Southampton surely have all three points wrapped up.
WOW! It's a goal this game didn't deserve... Boufal looks to have won it for Southampton!
A stunning solo effort from the substitute, a genuine contender for goal of the season after running from his own half, through almost the entire West Brom team. So much happened on the way... West Brom players colliding with each other, being turned inside out... before Boufal sent the ball round the goalkeeper and into the bottom corner. Absolutely stunning.
80mins: Substitute Nathan Redmond turns in plenty of space, just outside the 18-yard box, before firing a shot goalwards. He tries to bend it into the top corner and the goalkeeper is nowhere near, but the shot drifts just wide of the right-hand post.
Meanwhile, Tadic is off for Boufal and Austin is on the field in place of Shane Long.
78mins: Nacer Chadli comes off for West Brom, with Matt Phillips replacing him. That's the Baggies' most creative player coming off... you get the impression Pulis is pretty keen on just tying this game up and taking a point back to the Midlands.
72mins: A lively couple of minutes, which has well and truly woken the crowd up from their south coast slumber. Southampton were through on goal when Foster made a decent save from Tadic, before the Southampton man hit the deck calling for a penalty despite no contact.
A minute later, Nacer Chadli whips a lovely shot at goal down the other end. It has plenty of pace and dip, and all Forster can do it tip it over the bar.
70mins: Nathan Redmond coming on for Southampton, in place of Oriel Romeu. A holding midfielder for a more attacking player, as Mauricio Pellegrino goes for it with 20 minutes to play. This game badly needs a goal.
68mins: Gabbiadini collects the ball on the edge of the West Brom box and has half a second to set himself before Kieran Gibbs closes him down. The striker manages to get a shot away at goal, but it's bread and butter stuff for Foster in the Baggies net.
66mins: Not a lot happening here... and that's pretty much all I can say right now. As I type Tadic is hauled down by Chadli and the West Brom man goes in the book. The first yellow card of the match.
63mins: Another chance for West Brom, this time after an error from Fraser Forster. He comes to collect the ball high above his head and, although he may claim he was fouled, he really should be catching that with ease. At the second and third attempt, he can't collect it, but his defenders help him out and clear their lines.
60mins: West Brom should be 1-0 up and Jay Rodriguez should be the scorer. Alas, it's really poor contact when he's through one on one. Tony Pulis' hands-on-head reaction just about sums it up and, actually, that pretty much sums up this game so far. A really poor effort and he should have done better.
57mins: A rare chance for West Brom, as Kieran Gibbs rises above Southampton right back Cedric to head at goal. It's on target, but an easy save from Fraser Forster.
53mins: A substitution for West Brom. One Gareth for another, as Barry comes off in place of McAuley.
50mins: A chance for Southampton and Gabbiadini! The cross comes in from the left and the Saints striker jumps highest to angle a brilliant header at goal. It's asking a lot to score from there, but he almost manages it... it dips just over the bar.
47mins: The home side straight on the front foot, starting the second half how they ended the first. Steven Davis looks to play a low ball through to Gabbiadini in the box, but West Brom manage to clear.
...a big 45 minutes to come!
Wonder what's having better TV ratings - this, or Gardeners World on BBC2.
And there's the half-time whistle... 0-0 at the break. Not one to tell your grandkids about, let's be honest.
43mins: Yoshida with a great chance for Southampton as he heads at goal from a corner. Ben Foster pushes it round the post, though. From the resulting set piece, it's Yoshida again as he tries a speculative overhead kick. It ends up where you might expect a centre back's effort to end up... off-target!
41mins: West Brom break forward quickly and the ball reaches Allan Nyom on the left-hand side of the box. He cuts inside but his shot is high, wide, and not at all handsome.
38mins: The game has quietened down a little bit now after Saints' spell of pressure. Just over five minutes until half-time now. Van Dijk plays the ball forward to Tadic.
32mins: Allan Nyom is stripped off and ready to come on earlier than anticipated, as Jonny Evans comes off injured. The problem seems to have come from the earlier fall he made. A shame for West Brom. Dawson moves in to centre back and Nyom at right back.
It's tipping it down here. Never rains but it pours for Southampton, eh?
Not sure how they aren't ahead. Shane Long had to stick that away.
29mins: Should score! Shane Long, who you'll remember hasn't scored in 25 games, is on the end of a wonderful break from Southampton, from their own box to West Brom's in very quick time. At a tight angle he tries to fire the ball in at the near post, but his chance goes wide.
27mins: Nacer Chadli has a free-kick about 25 yards from the Southampton goal, but he can only find the wall and Saints clear their lines with ease.
23mins: Rondon heads the first corner behind for another, and then the second should end in a Southampton goal. The ball falls to Romeu, with his back to goal, but as he swivels to shoot he just can't find the target and it goes wide. Another excellent chance.
21mins: Another chance for Southampton, and this time it's Dusan Tadic. A great move down the left finds the midfielder inside the box, but his poked effort at goal can only find Ben Foster. That was a lovely worked move, and the home side are starting to assert their authority now. As I type, Gabbiadini wins a corner.
Two cagey teams – one without a win in six (West Brom) and the other with only one win in six (Southampton).
Shane Long, by the way, hasn't scored in 25 games for club and country. This is his 100th Premier League appearance today. The narrative is there for the taking...
17mins: A big West Brom wall in the way, as Bertrand steps up. The shot clips the top of the wall before smacking the post and bouncing away from goal. Jonny Evans is the man whose head it hits... and that could have saved his side.
16mins: Jake Livermore sticks a foot in just outside the West Brom area and concedes a foul in a really dangerous position. Ryan Bertrand standing over it...
14mins: Both managers barking instructions at their players from the dugouts at St Mary's, but it's been a fairly even start to proceedings here. Not much to split them.
11mins: A slight break in play as Jonny Evans lands awkwardly following an aerial challenge with Shane Long. No foul, but it was just a little unfortunate for the West Brom man. Virgil van Dijk has also tweaked his back, but looks okay to continue.
6mins: Lemina finds a few inches of space and tries to lift a ball over the top of the West Brom defence to Gabbiadini. The wind is wreaking havoc though, and it doesn't quite reach its intended target. A thumbs up from one team-mate to another, though.
3mins: Gareth Barry takes a pot-shot at goal from about 25 yards out, but doesn't quite manage to test Fraser Forster. The keeper has his angles covered and lets the ball fly into the side netting. An early warning for the Saints though.
2mins: Southampton with all the early possession as they play the ball around the back, to applause from their fans. It's fed wide to Tadic, who gets round Morrison to find a cross, but Chadli clears. Good start from the home side.
KICK-OFF: West Brom get us started, kicking from left to right in their home strip. Southampton, of course, are in their red and white home kit.
The players are wandering out of the tunnel as I type, so let's quickly take a look at how the Premier League table stands before kick-off.
These two sides are 12th and 14th respectively.
...and there's only eight minutes to wait until kick-off!
BT Sport have a job on their hands to convince the neutrals that this is worth their time.
It is 12th v 14th – two teams who have scored seven apiece in the Premier League this season. That's as many as Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku had managed.
I'm hoping for a 5-4 thriller. In reality, I'm thinking 1-1.
The Southampton players are finalising their preparations on the pitch at St Mary's.
West Brom XI to face Saints: Foster, Gibbs, Evans, Livermore, Rondon, Barry, Rodriguez, Krychowiak, Chadli, Dawson, Hegazi

Southampton XI to face West Brom: Forster, Cedric, Van Dijk, Yoshida, Bertrand, Lemina, Romeu, Davis, Tadic, Long, Gabbiadini
