Manchester United's midweek win at Benfica may have moved them a step closer towards Champions League knockout qualification, but for Jose Mourinho it allowed him a closer look at one of the latter's rising stars.

Despite their defeat, left back Alex Grimaldo impressed for the Portuguese giants at the Estadio de Luz.

And it appears his display caught the eye of United boss Mourinho, according to reports in Portugal.

The rotation of the aforementioned trio has been a necessity for Mourinho with Marcos Rojo a long-term injury and question marks surrounding Luke Shaw's form and fitness continuing too.
