Their long term commitment to Arsenal may be under question, but Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez remain crucial to the Gunners' ambitions this season - at least until January.

Both were involved in first team training on Saturday, as Arsenal prepare for their Premier League trip to Everton on Sunday.

The game comes at the end of a week in which the futures of both players at the Emirates Stadium, particularly Ozil, came under renewed scrutiny.

The contracts of both Ozil and Sanchez expire at the end of the season, and neither have expressed any inclination to extend heir deals in north London.

Arsenal may look to sell two of their biggest stars in the January transfer window, rather than lose them both for free in the summer.

Ozil wants Jose Mourinho to rescue him, and has set his heart on joining Manchester United and joining up with his former Real Madrid manager.

Manager Arsene Wenger however is insistent Ozil will not be distracted, and said: 'We have to deal with all kinds of speculation when the players are at the end of their contracts. On the other hand, to be professional is to give 100 per cent as long as you are somewhere. For the rest, we came out many times and said that's the situation.

'The media can come out tomorrow and say that he extends his contract here. It will be exactly the same, it will not change anything. When you play the next game, commit 100 per cent.'

One small crumb of comfort for Wenger is that his side's weekend opponents have had an even rougher week, after both were in Europa League action on Thursday.

While a second-string Arsenal side won a tricky fixture away to Red Star Belgrade, Everton lost at home to Lyon in a match marred by a mass brawl, in which a spectator carrying a child struck one of the French club's players.
