Emma Hayes has signed a new deal with Chelsea, meaning she will not be the new England women's manager.

The 41-year-old was linked with the job in the wake of Mark Sampson's departure, but stressed her commitment to the Blues early on.

And she has now backed that up by signing a new three-and-a-half-year contract with Chelsea.

'This is a place which I feel very much a part of and it is very dear in my heart,' she told the club's official website.

'I couldn't see myself anywhere else and it makes absolute sense to commit to the club going forward.'

Mo Marley was placed in interim charge following Sampson's dismissal.

Fifty-year-old Marley led England to glory at the UEFA Women's Under-19 Championship in 2009.

She led the senior side for the first time as they lost 1-0 to France last week and she will also take charge of World Cup qualifiers against Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kazakhstan next month.

Marley is the odds-on favourite to land the job on a full-time basis, with Nick Cushing and Marieanne Spacey also said to be contenders.

She had previously been talked up as a contender to replace disgraced ex-boss Mark Sampson
