'What happens with social media and everything else is that there is always a clamour for people having a tough time,' said Pulis. 'But that tough time can turn very quickly. It would be nice if other clubs and other chairmen held their ground a bit more.

'I've been speaking to quite a few supporters outside this club and I think people are getting fed up of managers coming and going and it not being settled. But that's the way of the world and that's the industry we work in.

'I accept it. I think you've got to take criticism. No one has put a gun to my head and I've been through it before. It turns form game to game and you have to roll with it. Last year we were eighth in the Premier League for how many weeks?

'But we have left a lot of points on the pitch this season and it's been close, it's not as if we've been getting hammered and it's all falling to bits.

'We haven't had our best team out yet and we've had a lot of injuries. Everyone will have that good time and bad time and it's about being strong through it.'

Pulis spoke to chairman John Williams on Thursday and went for dinner on Friday night, picking over the possibilities of halting a City side who have won seven Premier League games in a row and scored 29 goals in the process.

'We've watched lots of clippings and for me this is what it's all about, pitting yourself against the best,' said Pulis. 'Everybody else has come unstuck but we know what we're facing and it's just a case of going out there and trying to relax and work very hard.

'For West Brom to be in a position to be playing the best team in Europe at the Hawthorns is absolutely fantastic and everybody should go down there and relish it. Get behind the lads and let's give it the best we possibly can.'
