Arsenal and Liverpool 'fighting over Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas'
- Diario Gol report that Arsenal and Liverpool are interested in Keylor Navas
- The goalkeeper reportedly feels under-appreciated by Real Madrid's hierarchy
- Navas is currently injured but has been Madrid's No 1 since the 2015-16 season
- Arsenal and Liverpool have conceded 16 and 17 league goals respectively so far
Arsenal and Liverpool are both considering a move for Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas, according to reports in Spain.
Navas has been Madrid's first-choice stopper since the start of the 2015-16 season following the departure of club legend Iker Casillas.
But despite his status as Madrid's No 1, Diario Gol report that Navas feels under-appreciated by the club's president Florentino Perez despite helping them to consecutive Champions League successes.
Keylor Navas made an outstanding save from Harry Kane during Real Madrid's draw with Spurs
Navas is aware of Perez's preference for Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea, who Madrid tried to sign back in August 2015, and is prepared to leave the Bernabeu for a new challenge.
And the Spanish outlet report that Arsenal and Liverpool have both been alerted to his availability and are willing to do battle over his signature.
Arsenal are seeking an alternative to 35-year-old keeper Petr Cech after selling Wojciech Szczesny to Juventus in the summer.
The goalkeeping position has long been a problem at Liverpool meanwhile, with neither Simon Mignolet or Lorius Karius convincing for Jurgen Klopp's side.
Navas, pictured with wife Andrea Salas, has been out of action for Madrid with a muscle injury
Navas is currently sidelined with an adductor muscle injury suffered while on international duty with Costa Rica.
He hasn't featured for Madrid since the 1-1 Champions League group stage draw against Tottenham on October 17 and Kiko Casilla has been starting in his absence.
Navas has been left out of the Costa Rica squad for their friendlies against Spain and Hungary. The 30-year-old has 76 caps for his country.
