  • Prolific forward is anticipated to be ready in time for North London derby

Mauricio Pochettino has admitted Harry Kane will be fit for Tottenham's next game against Arsenal, despite being ruled out for England's friendlies against Germany and Brazil.

Kane was expected to join Gareth Southgate's squad to play some part in the high-profile friendlies at Wembley but returned to Spurs.

A hamstring injury had ruled him out of Tottenham's defeat by Manchester United at Old Trafford 10 days ago, but the Premier League's top scorer subsequently started games against Real Madrid and Crystal Palace.

Kane's latest problem has arisen from a kick to the knee he suffered in the first half of Tottenham's win against Palace on Sunday.

He was eventually substituted in the 77th minute in what was described as 'protection' by his manager.

Kane spoke after the match at Wembley and insisted he was fine to play for England during the international break if needed, but pulled out a day later after a scan.

Kane's availability for the Arsenal game wills come as a huge relief to the club who have injuries mounting up as they aim to close the eight-point gap on Premier League leaders Manchester City.

He has scored six goals in his last six games against arch rivals Arsenal.

Midfielder Harry Winks also withdrew from England duty on Monday with an ankle problem. Dele Alli missed the Palace victory with a hamstring injury which has also ruled him out of England contention.

Defender Toby Alderweireld (hamstring) and goalkeeper Hugo Lloris (hip) also join absentees Michel Vorm, Victor Wanyama and Erik Lamela.

'Harry Kane is OK,' said Pochettino, speaking at the launch of his new book Brave New World.

'He's very good. In the last game he received a kick in his knee, but don't worry, he'll be available for the next game.'
