The 25-year-old returned to London this week after he secured World Cup qualification with Switzerland following their goalless stalemate with Northern Ireland last Sunday.

And the games continue to come thick and fast for the Swiss international with Arsenal hosting Tottenham in the north London derby this Saturday.

Arsenal have been the top dogs in this fierce rivalry for most of the Premier League era, but have not fared well in this fixture recently, not winning in the clubs last six meetings.

Spurs have been impressive so far this season and are four points in front of their rivals and heading into the tie as favourites.

Xhaka, who will be making his third north London derby appearance this weekend, could prove key to Arsenal as he will be tasked with nullifying midfield maestros Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen.

But he struggled to stop Kevin De Bryune and David Silva from pulling the strings from midfield in their last Premier League match as they were beaten 3-1 by Manchester City.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will be hoping for a better performance from Xhaka this weekend with the bragging rights at stake.
