Arsenal 2-0 Tottenham: Gunners' win streak at the Emirates continues as Laurent Koscielny reaches a landmark - EIGHT THINGS YOU MISSED

  • Arsenal comfortably beat Tottenham in one of their best games of the season
  • Laurent Koscielny marked his 300th game for the club in the best way possible
  • Arsenal have turned the Emirates into a fortress - no defeats in 13 home games

Arsenal comfortably beat Tottenham at the Emirates in what was one of their best performances of the season.

A thumping header from Shkodran Mustafi and a tap-in from Alexis Sanchez in the first half secured the three points, with Spurs offering little attacking threat throughout and Mesut Ozil earning the man-of-the-match award.

Victory moves the Gunners to within five points of second place, with Manchester City holding at least an eight point advantage over every other side. Here, Sportsmail brings you a round-up of the things you may have missed from the Emirates.

Koscielny makes his 300th appearance for Arsenal

Laurent Koscielny marked his 300th appearance for the club in the best way possible - a victory over Tottenham.

Arsenal signed the French defender from Lorient in 2010 for a rumoured fee of around £10million, arriving as an uncapped international deciding whether to ally with France or Poland. Koscielny has since been capped by France 50 times and become a three-time FA Cup winner during his seven-year stay in north London.

The former Ligue 1 defender trails Aaron Ramsey (308) and Theo Walcott (391) in the race to become Arsenal's current most-capped player, but sits at least 50 games ahead of his nearest rivals Olivier Giroud (244) and Per Mertesacker (216).

Tottenham unbeaten streak is over

The balance of power in north London to some, has shifted, but to others, will remain firmly in Arsenal's hands until Tottenham end their 10-year wait for a trophy, the club's longest drought since World War Two.

Before kick-off, Tottenham were unbeaten in their last six league games against Arsenal, with their last loss coming at White Hart Lane in March 2014 courtesy of Tomas Rosicky's early strike.

Arsenal continue their longest winning run at the Emirates

Arsenal have quietly gone about turning the Emirates into something of a fortress as of late, as the club haven't lost in 13 games, their longest unbeaten streak since moving to the 60,000 capacity ground in 2006.

The last time Arsenal incurred a loss at home was when Bayern Munich demolished the Gunners 5-1 at home in March 2017, dismantling their Champions League hopes in the process at the last-16 stage for a seventh straight year.

Arsenal continue to look abroad

With Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Kieran Gibbs moving onto pastures new, Jack Wilshere, Rob Holding and Calum Chambers on the periphery and Theo Walcott unable to hold down a regular first-team place, Arsenal's English contingent is on the demise.

Against Spurs, they fielded their 155th starting XI in the Premier League without using an English player. By way of comparison, no team has even fielded 50 line-ups with no English player, with Wigan (42) and Fulham (17), trailing Wenger's side considerably.

Feared front-three click once again

When Ozil, Sanchez and Lacazette start for Arsenal, they win. Granted, the trio have only started together in three matches, but all three have yielded wins and two of the three victories came in particularly tricky circumstances, away to Everton and at home to Tottenham

Ozil and Lacazette each registered an assist, with Sanchez getting on the scoresheet. Similarly, against Everton, Ozil and Sanchez bagged a goal and an assist, with Lacazette scoring. In three games together, the stats read: Ozil (1 goal, 2 assists), Sanchez (1 goal, 2 assists), Lacazette (1 goal, 2 assists).

Two-man kick-off

Traditionally, the ball had to move forward at kick-off, but that all changed this season when the IFAB introduced a rule stating the ball can now move backwards from kick-off. As such, teams have been sending just the one player forward at each restart… but not Arsenal.

At the start of the second half, for some reason, two men lined up together in the centre for a traditional kick-off, throwing things back to the 'old days' (a few months ago).

Lukas Podolski further demonstrated his alliance to Arsenal by tweeting a picture of himself watching the north London derby on his phone.

Podolski, a fan-favourite during his three-year stay at the Emirates, was seemingly on the move, but ensured he puts his monthly data allowance to good use by finding time to watch his favourite English side.

Arsenal fans make their voice heard

Alexandre Lacazette's substitution around the 70-minute mark was greeted with boos from some Arsenal fans.

Despite Wenger's men leading by two with less than 20 minutes to go, the Arsenal faithful were incensed that the French forward was taken off so Francis Coquelin could add some protection in the middle.

In two of Arsenal's biggest games of the season, away to Liverpool and Manchester City, Wenger chose not to start the former Lyon forward, much to the chagrin of fans. So whilst it seemed odd that the fans booed during a win, it was likely a protest aimed at Wenger's prior selection choices and a reminder that fans don't want to see their £50m striker benched for big games.
