And that's it. What a finish.

Burnley are devastated, this happened to them last time against Wenger's men.

Sanchez's late penalty seals the victory and the Gunners leapfrog rivals Tottenham in the League.

15:50
GOAL - ARSENAL - SANCHEZ

The Chilean hits it low and hard into the bottom corner. It's the dying moments, and surely the game is won.

Agony can be seen on the Burnley faces. This will send Arsenal into fourth.

15:49
PENALTY - ARSENAL

A cross comes in and Aaron Ramsay is shoved by Tarwkowski.

It's a tough call, but it looks like Lee Mason has got this one spot on.

15:48

88mins: Ramsay found in the centre of the box, he takes a touch, spins and shoots, but it's blocked away.

The clearance comes straight back as Arsenal drive forward, all bodies in the Burnley half.

The Clarets are holding up, but it's coming back quicker each time. No respite.

15:45

86mins: Barnes gives away a free-kick this time on the Arsenal back line for a pull.

The Gunners use it to pile forward and Koscielny curls it into the box from deep.

It's poor and lethargic, going behind for a goal kick.

15:43

84mins: Burnley win a free-kick not too far out after Barnes is held by Mustafi.

Brady lofts the ball in from around 40 yards out into the mixer, but it sails straight through to the waiting hands of Cech.

15:38

80mins: Arsenal attack in waves. Wilshere finds Bellerin, whose shot is blocked.

They retain the ball and Wilshere picks it up again in the middle.

A shot leaves Pope rooted to the spot helpless, but is deflected behind.

15:37

78mins: Wenger fancies it also, as Welbeck comes on to replace Lacazette.

Time for some late heroics?

15:36

78mins: Defour off and Chris Wood comes on.

Dyche wants to win this, throwing the dice with his record striker entering the fray.

Impressive.

15:35

77mins: Lee Mason has a word with Sanchez after some dissent.

He's angry by a lack of decisions going his way.

No yellow, just a talking-to.

15:34

74mins: Burnley want a free-kick on the edge as Brady's effort strikes Koscielny's arm.

He can't help it, and the referee sees that.

Arsenal go straight up to the other end and threaten, Sanchez winning a free-kick half-way.

15:28

69mins: Ward picks out Brady with a cross from wide.

The Irishman hits it with his weaker right foot. It's on target, but doesnt trouble Cech.

End to end at Turf Moor.

15:27
CHANCE: ARSENAL

68mins: Dancing feet from Kolasinac sees him weave his way into the box.

It's lovely stuff, but he runs out of ideas.

The defender flashes a low cross across the area... to no-one.

A pull-back to Ramsay would have been ideal. Slight miscommunication.

15:25

66mins: Iwobi off and Jack Wilshere enters the fray.

15:23
FULL TIME: SOUTHAMPTON 4-1 EVERTON

It's another huge blow for Everton, though it was clear to see it was coming as soon as the second half started.

Sigurdsson's pearl of a goal gave some hope, but only one side were at the races today.

15:22

63mins: Sanchez finds himself locked in the corner, but chips the ball over to find Ramsay on the edge of the box.

The Welshman snatches a shot, rather than taking his time.

It's lofted over, to the amusement of Burnley fans.

15:21

61mins: A Lacazette effort deflects behind for a corner. Arsenal are starting to ask questions.

Xhaka's delivery is poor and Burnley break.

The home side looking more nervous as the tie goes on, but are standing firm.

15:19

89mins: Wayne Rooney looks on from the bench with a face of thunder.

He'll be wondering why he wasn't included here.

Everton needed some grit and passion.

15:16
GOAL: SOUTHAMPTON - DAVIS

87mins: Well, it was coming.

Ward-Prowse cuts it back for Steven Davis, who curls an effort into the far corner. It's a sweet strike.

This is a demolition job, and it's tough to say Everton don't deserve it. They've given nothing.

Southampton 4-1 Everton

15:15

55mins: Sanchez squares the ball out wide to Bellerin who finds Lacazette in the middle.

Burnley get back to cover, but Arsenal are moving the ball faster now.

Big game this for both teams, with a victory for either side sending them fourth.

15:14

85mins: Boufal comes off to be replaced by Yoshida.

15:11
CHANCE: EVERTON

81mins: It's Sigurdsson again and he tries his luck from distance.

That's where Everton are right now, hitting pot-shots from far out.

Granted, he has the ability - he's already shown that - but the threat is minimal.

15:09

79mins: There will be no hat-trick for Austin, who goes off to be replaced by Shane Long.

15:07

78mins: A welcome back for Mario Lemina, who comes on to replace opening goal scorer Dusan Tadic.

15:07
CHANCE: BURNLEY

48min: The home side break, but Brady's ball falls short of Hendrick. Arsenal were caught there, but werent made to pay.

15:05

46mins: Arsenal straight into things.

Sanchez and Iwobi link up. The Chilean jumps onto a cross and the effort goes behind.

He wants a corner, and probably should have been given one. The ref decides it's a goal kick.

15:04
SECOND HALF UNDER WAY AT TURF MOOR
15:03

74mins: And that's Keane's afternoon over.

It goes from bad to worse for Everton, especially if that is an injury.

Vlasic comes on in his place for the latter stages of this tie.

15:02

71mins: Kenny puts in a cross after a rare Everton attack, but Southampton clear.

It's poor from the visitors, who have looked toothless all afternoon.

Michael Keane is down now and receiving treatment, while Unsworth debates throwing Rooney into the action.

14:57
SNAPSHOT

Carbon copy time for Austin as the striker scores another header identical to his first.

Saints cruising now.

Austin leaps highest to score his second and Southampton's third
14:55

66min: Gabbiadini starting to warm up here, as Austin looks to be struggling.

A change could be imminent.

14:52
Unsworth shuffles the pack

63mins: Lookman is coming on for Everton, to replace Mirallas.

This, just after Southampton whipped in another free-kick, caught by Pickford.

The home team are still on top and the Toffees are slowly having all hope drained. If it stays like this for much longer their heads will go.

14:49
HALF-TIME: BURNLEY 0-0 ARSENAL
14:47
GOAL: SOUTHAMPTON - AUSTIN

And just like that he's done it again.

Another cross, another header, another Austin goal.

Everton clearly didn't learn from mistakes as Austin scores an almost identical goal - rising highest to power a header across goal into the far corner.

Southampton 3-1 Everton

14:47
SNAPSHOT

Austin's header puts the Saints ahead.

14:45

43mins: Half-time approaching at Turf Moor and Burnley are still keeping Arsenal at bay.

Neither team are dominating the other, rather just exchanging blows to see who will cave first.

The home side can be happy with their opening 45.

14:44
STAT

The figures don't lie.

Southampton have taken to this half much better than Everton.

They've had a 66 per cent share of possession, compared to the Toffees' 34.

Even after scoring their second Saints are still lively. Everton look shocked, as though they didn't see this coming.

14:41
GOAL: SOUTHAMPTON - AUSTIN

He's put those early misses behind him to rifle a header home and put his side back in the lead.

Bertrand puts in a cross and Austin peels away from his marker to the near post.

His header clatters into the cross-bar and down into the goal - Southampton back in the driving seat. 2-1

14:40

37mins: Burnley win a free-kick, dead centre just on the edge of the D.

Robbie Brady steps up to take and beats the wall.

His effort steams towards Cech but he's equal to it. Fantastic save.

14:38

48mins: Free-kick Southampton on the left, near the corner flag.

Ward-Prowse fires it into the danger zone, low and hard. Everton clear their lines.

14:34
SECOND HALF UNDER WAY AT ST MARY'S
14:33

32mins: Arsenal fancy this now. They're stretching the ball from either wing, looking to pick Burnley off with sustained build up play.

Lacazette sees an effort blocked before Monreal skies the rebound.

14:31
CHANCE: ARSENAL

29mins: Sanchez was almost in, but for some quick thinking from Tarkowski.

The defender went straight to floor, despite the Chilean being in the box.

He timed it spot on and the ball is away. Assured stuff.

14:29
CHANCE: ARSENAL

26mins: A corner comes in and is cleared only as far as Monreal on the edge.

Burnley rush out but the Spaniard smashes it.

It trails just wide, but is a worrying one for 'keeper Nick Pope. He adjusted his feet just in time. Likelihood is he would have saved it... perhaps.

14:26
YELLOW

23mins: And it's Brady the first man to go in the referee's book.

He picks up a yellow for a rash challenge on Alex Iwobi.

14:25
CHANCE: ARSENAL

18mins: The Gunners are biting back.

Lacazette breaks forward before finding Ramsey in the area who fires just over. Warning signs for the Clarets.

14:23
SNAPSHOT

Sigurdsson's trademark arced posture helped him curl the ball up and over for Everton's equaliser.

A stunning strike, definitely one to watch out for on Match of the Day 2.

14:20
Sportsmail's Graham Poll

The whistle blows for half-time.

A quick look back at that penalty incident, Southampton were adamant they should have had a spot kick.

Here's Sportsmail's Graham Poll's verdict:

'Big appeals for a Southampton penalty as the ball hits Michael Keane on the arm.

Referee Kevin Friend was blindsided so could not adjudicate and I thought the assistant was right not to indicate a penalty as the incident was not deliberate with Keane close to the ball as it was crossed and he was turning away from it.'

14:19
HALF-TIME: SOUTHAMPTON 1-1 EVERTON
14:18
CHANCE: BURNLEY

17mins: As that was going on Burnley went close at Turf Moor.

Gudmundsson dropped his shoulder beautifully to sell Monreal short before hammering an effort at Cech.

It's hit the side-netting, but that was close.

14:15
GOAL: EVERTON - SIGURDSSON

And finally the Icelandic ace is off the mark in the league, and it's a beauty.

Coming just before half-time, his curling effort hits the bar and the post and the bar again before dropping in.

All square now at St Mary's.

14:14

13mins: Arsenal getting into gear at Turf Moor.

Sanchez is coming deep in search of the ball, but Burnley are keeping tight in midfield.

Dyche has packed that area, and you can already see why. If Arsenal are to score, you'd put your money on it being a counter-attack.

14:12
CHANCE: SOUTHAMPTON

40mins: A corner comes in and Van Dijk looms over everyone.

His glancing header is wide, but that was a clear-cut chance.

14:08

8mins: Sanchez smashes an effort across the floor from distance.

Let's hope he was just getting his aim adjusted, because that was terrible.

14:07

35mins: Southampton want a penalty.

A cross clatters out for a corner off the flailing hands of Keane.

The ref gives him the benefit of the doubt this time.

14:06

5mins: Early pressure from Burnley at Turf Moor as a free-kick is whipped into the area.

Arsenal deal with it but are penned in by the hosts.

A cross from deep looks to find Barnes, but he can't get on the end of it.

14:04

33mins: Everton still taking their time with things. You wouldn't think they were the team behind.

Baines' departure has unsettled things for sure, but there is no urgency among Unsworth's men as Southampton attack again.

14:01
KICK-OFF AT TURF MOOR

And the action is under way in Burnley.

13:57

26mins: It's the right-hand side which is killing Everton, they can't cope with the attacking runs.

Bad news for Baines, as it looks like he can't continue.

Ashley Williams is on in his place as Southampton attack once more.

Kenny now moves to left-back.

13:56

24mins: Baines pulls up with a bit of an issue on the wing.

He's in some discomfort, but should be okay to continue after some treatment. Everton a man down in the meantime. Ashley Williams begins to warm up.

Toffees have shown no sign of an instant response to going behind.

13:52

Meanwhile at Turf Moor

This chap is ready for the game...

Kick-off for Burnley's clash with Arsenal is 10 minutes away.

13:48
GOAL: SOUTHAMPTON - TADIC

And just like that Southampton race up to the other end and score.

The pace of Bertrand fires Southampton down the wing, before he picks out Dusan Tadic in the middle.

Racing towards the penalty spot with a defender on his shoulder, the winger stubs the ball under Pickford and it trickles into the back of the net.

It's deserved.

13:48

16mins: Mirallas dances through the defence and looks like he's in on the Saints goal.

His touch his heavy, and Fraser Forster gives it a good old fashioned hoof away.

13:46
SNAPSHOT

He'll rue this one.

Charlie Austin lashes a close range volley the wrong side of the Everton post
13:45

13mins: In the build up to that, Cedric has taken a nasty gash on his leg.

He's okay to continue, but winning the ball in the corner has left him with a war wound.

Cedric receives medical attention after getting a nasty gash on his shin
13:42
CHANCE: SOUTHAMPTON

12mins: Cedric whips the ball in after winning it in the corner area.

Charlie Austin connects with a volley from point blank range, but sends it the wrong side of Pickford's post.

That should have been 1-0 to the hosts.

13:40

10mins: Everton come back, Lennon and Mirallas using their pace to link up.

The ball falls to the Belgian, but he lashes it wide.

13:39

8mins: This is all Southampton, Everton are on the back foot.

Boufal is looking lively on the wing and causing Gueye to drop deeper to deal with the threat.

It's strong pressure from the Saints, but they need to make it count...

13:37
CHANCE: SOUTHAMPTON

6mins: Corner Southampton. Lovely switch play from Boufal and Cedric causes a problem for the Toffees.

Ward-Prowse whips it in, Van Dijk heads down and Austin lashes it over.

A good chance, he'll kick himself for not keeping that down...

13:35

4mins: Free-kick Saints, for a challenge on Steven Davis. Good chance to whip it into the box.

Ward-Prowse's delivery goes all the way through, untouched by the defence, and bounces towards Pickford.

He copes with it, but that could have spelled trouble.

13:33

2mins: Sharp intake of breath as Southampton play it along the back line. Forster quickly gets it out to Hoedt, but Siguardsson is waiting.

Seems the crowd have confidence in the big stopper to save things with his hands... but less assured about his feet.

13:31
KICK-OFF

And we're under way at St Mary's.

13:30
Charlie Austin looking for speed again?

The striker starts, and he scored 41 seconds into the 1-0 victory last season.

Speedy stuff.

12:55
Gunners gunning for fourth?

What will a win mean today for Arsenal?

Quite a lot, as it happens.

Following Tottenham's shock draw with West Brom at Wembley, and Liverpool sharing the spoils with Chelsea at Anfield, an Arsenal win today will lift them up into fourth.

Arsene Wenger's men have won three of their last four, though Burnley likewise are a team in form and locked on points with their opponents.

After winning their last three games on the bounce, victory today would also see Sean Dyche's side leapfrog Liverpool and Spurs and jump into fourth place.

A lot to play for...

12:51
STAT

Arsenal put up the biggest fight from losing positions – Arsenal have the best record for earning points from games they go behind in, earning points from 54 per cent of games they concede the first goal in.

Turf Moor is a tough place to go but, should Burnley take the lead, they should wisely not sit back on their laurels.

Today's order of play

Okay, so here's how things are going to be working out today.

Team news coming up for the Clarets and Gunners very soon.

12:42
Here come the Toffees
12:36
State of play

Both teams enter this one finding themselves in similar positions, each being pulled slowly downwards toward the danger area of the Premier League.

Both sides have just one win in their last five, with just a point separating 14th placed Southampton from 16th placed Everton.

Victory can lift the Saints up to 9th, level on points with Brighton.

Likewise, a win for the Toffees will see David Unsworth's men get up to 10th.
