Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny has reportedly informed the club he wants to leave to finish his career in France with former side Lorient.

The 32-year-old, who has been at the Gunners since his £10million move back in 2010, has become a stalwart in Arsene Wenger's side for his performances in defence.

However, Koscielny seemingly has no desire to stick around in North London for the remainder of his career and has already put the wheels in motion for his exit.

According to Lorient president Loic Fery, the France international has spoke with him about a move back home despite being under contract at the Emirates Stadium until 2020.

Fery told Canal+ Sport: 'He told me last week in London that he wanted to finish his career at Lorient.'

Koscielny joined Lorient in 2009 but spent just one season with them, making 40 appearances before he was snapped up by Wenger.

Over the past couple of seasons he has been a vital player for Arsenal in what has been a rocky period for the club.

The vice-captain has helped them to three FA Cup victories, but they have failed to mount a serious title challenge and missed out on Champions League qualification last season.

Koscielny however has earned fan favourite status, chalking up over 300 games for the club and the Gunners faithful will not want to see him leave.

Despite him making his desires to finish his career in France clear, Ferry believes the move will not happen anytime soon.

He added: 'I hope he has a few more years playing at Arsenal [first].'
