  • Liverpool host Everton in the first Merseyside derby of the season

It's derby day this weekend in the Premier League with Manchester rivals United and City squaring up after a Merseyside battle at Anfield between Liverpool and Everton.

Here's the best best bets for Super Sunday and the rest of the fixtures.

Manchester United v Manchester City

Home: 27/11 Away:  5/4 Draw 13/5

Manchester rivals United and City play nine games each this month but there’s only one derby – and what a derby it is.

In the red corner, United with seven Premier League wins out of seven at home. In the blue, City with seven wins out of seven on the road. United are now on a 40-match unbeaten run at Old Trafford in all competitions while City are homing in on a new record after 13 straight league wins.

Something's got to give. You have to go back to September 2016 for the last time United lost at Old Trafford and that was to Sunday’s opponents, who were on hell of a run then too.

City's most recent wins haven’t been as impressive as their performances of a few weeks ago and as for the loss to Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday night, well, there’s worse games to go down in than a Champions League dead rubber with top spot in the group already sewn up and seven changes made to your starting line-up.

United won their European fixture, 2-1 against CSKA Moscow, and head into Sunday full of confidence - but without Paul Pogba.

They need to win and cut into that eight-point City lead at the top of the table and they’ll miss the suspended Frenchman. Mourinho can’t replace the £89m man like for like but he will have a clear plan in place for whoever he throws in.

Sportsmail’s Martin Keown expects the United boss to shut the game down but is still tipping goals. He’s going 2-2 and that can be backed at 14/1.

City’s star-studded attack are hard to keep out – they’ve drawn a blank just once all season, in a League Cup tie with Wolves – but David de Gea is a keeper in form. He’s made more saves in his last four league games (21) than his opposite number Ederson has (20) all season.

De Gea had a stormer at the Emirates last weekend and is 12/1 with Paddy Power for man of the match while a 2-1 United win is 11/1.

Liverpool v Everton

Home: 3/10 Away:  11/1 Draw: 11/2

Just when little chinks of light were appearing in the form of wins over West Ham, Huddersfield and Limassol along come the rampant Reds.

They say form goes out the window in the derby but if you believe that you’ll believe Everton have got a chance at Anfield.

This is about keeping it respectable for Sam Allaryce – he’s only been there five minutes and it’s not that long ago the Toffees shipped five to Atalanta and four to Southampton.

So, watching Liverpool score three at Stoke, five at Brighton and seven against Spartak Moscow can’t have been much fun for the blue half of Merseyside.

An away win is on offer at a massive 11/1 while Liverpool are no better than 1/3. Jurgen Klopp’s side can be backed at 13/8 to win with over 3.5 goals in the game or 16/5 with over 4.5.

Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane ran riot in midweek, sharing the goals between them against the Russians. A Mane-Coutinho anytime scorer double is 4/1.

It’s the dirtiest derby with the most red cards – 21 in 50 meetings – but there’s only been one, to Ramiro Funes Mori in 2016, in the last 12 games. Does that mean we’re due one? It’s 1/3 there’s a red card, 5/1 Everton lose a man, 17/2 a Liverpool dismissal and 33/1 both teams. You can get 12/1 for a first-half red card and 4/1 for one after the break.

The best of the rest

It’s not just Merseyside and Manchester where bragging rights are up for grabs as West Ham entertain capital rivals Chelsea at the London Stadium to kick off the Premier League action on Saturday afternoon.

We’re ignoring the scare West Ham gave City and are backing Chelsea to win both halves, like we did when they saw off Newcastle last week. They’re 11/4 - or 1/2 just for the points.

Crystal Palace (21/20) can edge past Bournemouth while Spurs, despite recent setbacks, are skinny at home to Stoke (2/7) but can be backed at 20/23 to be winning at half-time and full-time.

After backing a 2-0 win for Everton against Huddersfield  last weekend, we're going the same score for Palace to beat the Cherries.

Burnley against Watford and West Brom’s trip to Swansea look the best bets for draws while a Brighton-Arsenal-Leicester treble, away to Huddersfield, Southampton and Newcastle respectively, returns 18/1.
