Manchester United left back Luke Shaw is looking for a £5million pay-off should he leave
The 22-year-old is fully aware that he will not be able to earn the £130,000 a week (around £7m-a-year) that he gets at United should he move to another club.
An Old Trafford source said, via The Sun: 'Shaw will not make it easy for the club to show him the door in January.
'The club have one figure in mind while he has another for severance pay. They are way off of each other.
'He wants to get his career moving again, but he is not going to do United a favour if they do try to force him to leave.'
The club is looking to claim back some of the £30m they spent on Shaw with a number of clubs interested in the young defender, most notably Newcastle.
The Magpies initiated an enquiry into Shaw's availability but bolted at the initial £20m price tag.
