Manchester United and Manchester City are both in action on Wednesday night amid a packed Premier League midweek schedule.

Jose Mourinho's men host Bournemouth while Pep Guardiola's high-flying City travel to south Wales to play lowly Swansea

It comes after a fierce Manchester derby last Sunday, after which a 30-man brawl exploded in the Old Trafford tunnel following City's 2-1 win to put them 11 points clear of their bitter rivals.

Both managers will speak for the first time following the incident and will preview their side's respective fixtures.

CHRIS WHEELER AT CARRINGTON: Jose Mourinho has aimed a dig at Manchester City by saying the difference between his team and Pep Guardiola’s is ‘a question of behaviour and diversity’.

The United boss was speaking for the first time since Sunday’s Manchester derby erupted in trouble following City’s 2-1 win at Old Trafford.

Mourinho was reluctant to get embroiled in a war of words with Guardiola. When informed that the City boss had addressed the issue in his press conference, Mourinho replied: ‘He says he says. I'm not here to comment on his words.

Jose Mourinho not going to comment on Guardiola

'We lost against Chelsea and the next match we had a little bit extra to try to win. For sure they are going to have next match a little more to give.

'When the gap was eight points we go match to match, we have the number of points we have. Last season we drew at home against Bournemouth, now let's try to do better.

'Pep says what he says, I’m not here to comment on his words.

'Only thing I can say is that for me, it was just a question of diversity in behaviour and education, just that and nothing more than that.

'I have nothing more to say.'

This is not 'post-Manchester City'

Jose Mourinho speaks to the media.

'This is pre-Bournemouth, not post Man City. That was already done and this is pre-Bournemouth.

'As always, when you lose and probably you have a little more desire to win. Nobody likes to lose once, nobody wants to lose twice.

'When you lose a match, the next one you have a little big extra to give.

'The motivation is based on wanting to try to win all the time. I repeat, when you have a bad result, you don’t want two bad results.'

Pep Guardiola has dismissed suggestions that Manchester City over-celebrated their derby victory over Manchester United, despite the break-out of a 30-man brawl over a perceived lack of respect from the Premier League leaders.

City's 2-1 victory at Old Trafford on Sunday was marred by ugly scenes in the tunnel following the game, when around members of playing and background staff from the two teams were involved in a brawl that saw Jose Mourinho hit by a water bottle and left Mikel Arteta bleeding from the head.

Ahead of his side's clash clash with Swansea on Wednesday, Guardiola refused to discuss the details of the fracas but insisted his side celebrated the win like any other.

… and we’re still waiting for Jose Mourinho. Unusual this. He’s already more than a quarter of an hour late. I would be amazed if he’s not watching a live feed of Guardiola.

Mourinho is late in. Is he taking the opportunity to watch Guardiola speak first before responding?

13:44
Opening statement on Sunday's incident from Pep

'The club is making a statement today. From our point of view I think the game was on a nice stage. The managers before, during and after was what they had to do. Everybody fought to win the game.

'After the players shook hands, no problem, some celebrated with the fans like normal. Then we went to the locker room. We have huge respect to our opponents, not just United. When we lose we have to accept the defeat and when we win then celebrate.

'We celebrated in Napoli - you have to do that. I encourage them and it is what we did. What happened hopefully won’t happen again.'

13:43
Vincent Kompany injury

'Not in Swansea no, but hopefully it's less than we expect' (muscular)

13:42
On Champions League draw

'The last-16, ask me that question one week or two weeks before that game. Because I don't know our players' conditions.

'The draw is the draw.

'We show we are able to do good things in good stages but it's past. That doesn't give you the guarantee. Nobody knows.

'There could be injured players, nobody knows. It's how you arrive in that moment.'

13:41
We keep focused

'I leave that sort of thing in the past. Like a manager. I said to my players to forget about it.

'After Tottenham, stay focused on the game. It's what I do in my career.

'It's what you try to do to win the game. i try to give to my players the best advice to represent ourselves and the club.'

13:39
On Mikel Arteta cut

'I am not going to explain what happened there. The FA investigation knows our opinion on that.'

13:38
We celebrate when we win derbies

'All the teams around the world when you win the derby are happy. When we play in Barcelona, when we win all the games, finals, semi-finals, derbies, we're happy.

'We celebrate inside the locker. At Old Trafford the home locker room has to pass the away locker room.

13:36
Celebrations too much?

Did you feel the celebrations were too much?

'No, definitely not. We were happy, we won a derby. At the moment the best rival we have to win it (the league).

'When Arsenal win against united they celebrate. We are inside the locker room. That is what we tried to do and we did it.'

13:35
Guardiola on after the game

'After the game, the players shake hands. between them, no problem at all. Some go to celebrate with the fans like normal. Afterwards we went to the locker room. i encourage players to celebrate our victories.

'When we lose we have to accept defeat, but when we win we enjoy.

'I am the guy who encouraged them to celebrate between each other. And that is what we did.

And after what happened, hopefully it can not happen again.'

13:31
Eddie Howe on potential bust-up with United

'That’s the furthest thing from my mind, though not the winning part. After a football match there are a lot of emotions and sometimes people don’t realise how big that is to your outlook.

'I think sometimes things will over-spill, the challenge is to keep your emotions in check at all times and that’s what I try to do.

'I can only speak for myself, but you always want to get that balance right, you don’t want to rub people’s noses in it. That’s common sense really because you don’t want to be disrespectful.'

We’re in one of the smaller press rooms at Carrington which was packed 15 minutes ahead of the scheduled 1.30pm start because of the keen interest in Jose Mourinho’s comments.

Will the United manager be keen to discuss the explosive events after the Manchester derby defeat? The fact he’s doing a press conference ahead of a midweek game against Bournemouth would suggest yes.

Not long now

The Manchester City boss should be out in the next five minutes. Live updates to follow.

How Pep Guardiola brought tiki-taka and a little corner of Catalonia to Manchester City

JACK GAUGHANBarcelona follows Pep Guardiola around. Success there has defined him as a manager and the comparisons between them and this Manchester City team are never far away.

He has consistently deflected from those in the recent past, citing City have not won any silverware yet, but there came a perfect moment to address it inside the Old Trafford tunnel.

'We can play this way in England,' a giddy Guardiola said after beating Manchester United. 'People said we couldn't play the way we did in Barcelona in England but it is possible and we did it.'

Jurgen Klopp weighs in

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has weighed in on the tunnel fracas ahead of Liverpool's clash with West Brom.

'We've had 1 or 2 draws at home and I've heard loud music from the other side. I've got no problem with that.

'Everything is allowed as long as you show the right amount of respect.'

WHAT REALLY HAPPENED

A terrific graphic by the newspaper shows us exactly what happened in that fracas in the tunnel.

Apologies if it's too small to read.

A history of the rivalry between Jose and Pep

YOURS TRULY: Firstly, let's jump back to 1996. A 33-year-old Jose Mourinho is just two years into a fledgling coaching career, learning his craft at one of the biggest clubs in world football: Barcelona.

Pep Guardiola, then 25, is a Spanish international and a vital cog in the Barca wheel which romped to thee trophies that season: the Copa del Rey, Supercopa de Espana and European Cup Winners' Cup.

Both men played their part in a hugely successful season for the Catalans. Skip forward over 20 years, however, and there appears to be only one coach steaming towards the Premier League title.

'You talk a lot but you move a little'

ICYMIManchester City coaches' goading of Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic may have played a key role in the explosive Old Trafford tunnel bust-up on Sunday.

Members of Pep Guardiola's backroom staff allegedly picked on the Swedish striker as they made their way back to the changing room.

Spanish newspaper Marca claim they told the 36-year-old: 'Ibra, you talk a lot but you move a little.'
