Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain booed by Arsenal fans while Liverpool keeper Simon Mignolet earns new nickname in six-goal thriller enjoyed by Vincent Kompany... but not James Milner

Liverpool and Arsenal played out a six-goal thriller in the Premier League on Friday.

Philippe Coutinho, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino were on target for the Reds, who led 2-0 before Alexis Sanchez, Granit Xhaka and Mesut Ozil turned the game around with three strikes in five minutes.

The deluge of goals may have caused you to miss a few other goings-on but fear not as Sportsmail has got you covered...

Mignolet gaffe earns Liverpool keeper new nickname

Simon Mignolet will be disappointed with his failure to stop Arsenal's second goal, scored by Granit Xhaka, whose long-range effort found the net despite the Reds keeper getting a hand to it.

To add insult to injury, Mignolet was apparently given the nickname 'lettuce hands' by a commentator working for ESPN Brasil.

Ox watch

Making his return to north London, Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain spent the first 84 minutes of the match in very familiar surroundings - on the Emirates subs bench.

When he entered the action as a late substitute for Coutinho, the Ox was loudly booed by the fans who had supported him for six years.

Surprising stat

This was one of the highest scoring contests of the Premier League season so far but Arsenal started very slowly - so much so that they did not register a shot on target in the entire first half.

It was the first time in 17 games that Arsenal had failed to produce a strike on goal inside the opening 45 minutes. But they made up for it with four - three of which resulted in goals - after the interval.

Liverpool fans celebrate Firmino miss

Firmino ended the game with a goal and assist to his name, but it was very nearly even better for the Brazilian, who struck the stanchion with a curling effort just after the half-hour mark.

The former Hoffenheim star's shot appeared to be heading for the goal as it bent past Petr Cech, only for the ball to whistle over the crossbar.

It then bounced off the stanchion and rebounded into the back of the net - albeit on the wrong side from a Liverpool perspective.

Nevertheless, some Reds fans were briefly fooled and cheers were heard before they realised it was not a goal.

Defender enjoys awful defending

A 3-3 draw is usually a treat for any watching neutral and Manchester City centre back Vincent Kompany clearly enjoyed this one.

Despite some pretty awful defending on show, the Belgian international tweeted: 'Football is beautiful. #AFCvLFC #Neutral'.

Boring James Milner

Kompany may have enjoyed watching goals, goals, goals but Liverpool midfielder James Milner was less amused.

The 31-year-old told Sky Sports: 'We have got to become more boring.'

Milner's comment will have delighted followers of popular Twitter parody account @BoringMilner, which comically depicts the Reds star as a dull character.
