Manchester United defender Luke Shaw brought a touch of much needed festive cheer to the club's training ground over Christmas after ordering 50 hampers for staff.
The 22-year-old, who has been on the sidelines for most of the season but returned to the squad in December, bought hampers from upmarket London department store Fortnum and Mason, worth an estimated £200 each.
Shaw had the Christmas goodies delivered last weekend while United's first team were away at Leicester City and staff at United's Carrington complex were delighted with the gesture.

The hampers, presented in wicker baskets, included bottles of champagne, marmalade vodka, a half bottle of port plus farmhouse pate, chicken liver parfait, almonds and 'sultry smoky nuts'.
A club source said: 'It was a lovely gesture of thanks from Luke and everyone appreciated it. We don't get anything from the club at Christmas so it was a nice touch.'
Shaw, who has been constantly linked with a move away from Old Trafford this winter, intends to stay and see out the rest of the season at least.

He started in the side's Boxing Day match against Burnley but could not prevent his side from dropping two points at home.
The young defender has been given more opportunity during the latter stages of the year and his performances are looking more promising.
However, his strained relationship with Mourinho may force the club to reconsider his position within the squad.
