Zlatan Ibrahimovic has 'a massive problem', reveals Jose Mourinho as Manchester United manager predicts a month out for striker
- Manchester United could only draw 0-0 with Southampton on Saturday evening
- Zlatan Ibrahimovic missed the game and is suffering from knee injury trouble
- Romelu Lukaku also suffered a head injury to trouble manager Jose Mourinho
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is facing a month on the sidelines at the worst possible time as Manchester United count the cost of losing the Swedish centre forward and fellow striker Romelu Lukaku.
Mourinho revealed Ibrahimovic is facing 'a big problem' as the 36-year-old continues to suffer from knee trouble, after Saturday's goalless draw against Southampton.
And with Lukaku also set for time out after suffering a head injury, United will have to cope with usual wing options Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial up front.
Manchester United are set to be without Zlatan Ibrahimovic for a month through injury
Romelu Lukaku is also due for some time out after suffering a head injury against Southampton
Ibrahimovic suffered a devastating anterior cruciate ligament injury towards the end of last season and there are fears the new problem could be linked.
On Ibrahimovic's injury status, Mourinho told the BBC: 'The same [knee]. A massive problem. He is a 36-year-old with a bad knee.'
Speaking to BT Sport he confirmed his veteran forward was facing 'one month out'.
Lukaku is due to miss United's next two matches, according to Mourinho. They face Everton at Goodison Park on New Year's Day and then host Derby County in the FA Cup four days later.
Marcus Rashford (right) led the line for United but he could not find the breakthrough
'When you see a player leave the pitch like he did, it is usually two games at least,' Mourinho said.
The Portuguese could look to add to his squad in January with his two main striking options facing time out.
Rashford and Martial have been used on the wing this season and the former failed to notch when handed a central opportunity on Saturday.
