INSTINCT: Jose Mourinho says Eden Hazard's comments had been transformed [GETTY]

Hazard made comments after his team were knocked out by Atletico Madrid in the Champions League thanks to a 3-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge, claiming he was the only Blues player to be given creative tasks in the squad.

"Chelsea is not made to play football. We're good on the counter, a little bit like Real against Bayern. Often, I'm asked to do it all by myself and it's not easy," the Belgian star said.

But Mourinho defended Hazard's comments, saying they had been mistranslated while pointing out where he thought he thought the player could improve in his defensive play.

"The context was completely transformed. There was nothing critical in what he said," Mourinho said.

"He had same words about the Belgium side.

"When the comments come from players much like Eden, the comments are normal because he's not the player to sacrifice."

"If you look at Athletico's first goal, you will see where the mistake is.

And when asked about if he was happy with how Hazard deployed himself defending-wise, he added: "No, I am not that happy.

"He needs the improvement."
