ON THE BRINK: Elneny is close to sealing a move to Arsenal

Last season's FA Cup winners, who sit at the summit of the Premier League table, are understood to have agreed a £7m deal for the Egypt international.

Elneny, 23, is alleged to have penned a four-and-a-half year deal with the north Londoners, who take on Liverpool on Wednesday evening.

However, the announcement of the deal has been delayed as the midfielder hasn't secured a work permit.

But Wenger, 66, believes the former El Mokawloon star will become a Gunner by the end of the week.

“I expect movement and we are positive that this week it can happen," Wenger said.

"The situation can be sorted out.

"There are work permit problems and special paperwork, a visa, we hope we can finalise it this week.

"As long as it’s not definitely signed you have to be cautious but I’m optimistic."
