DEAL CLOSE: Arsenal are reportedly poised to sign Miguel Almiron (right)

The 22-year-old attacking midfielder has emerged as a late target for the Gunners ahead of Wednesday's transfer deadline.

Yesterday, Italian website Tuttomercatoweb claimed talks were taking place between Arsenal and Argentinian side Lanus over a deal.

And now journalist Ruben Dario Da Rosa, who works for Paraguayan TV network Telefuturo claims a move is drawing closer to completion.

He tweeted: "Miguel Almiron is very near the Arsenal of England. €9.4m (£8m) [deal]."

Should Arsenal complete the signing of Almiron, he will become the third player to arrive at the Emirates Stadium in the final days of the transfer window.

The club are poised to officially announce the arrivals of Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez after Arsene Wenger confirmed the transfers on Saturday night.

Almiron joined Lanus last summer from Paraguayan outfit Club Cerro Porteno where he had come through the youth set-up before breaking into the first team in 2013.

He represented Paraguay at this summer's Copa America.
